Ankle biter issues since last road trip:
1. Coolant temperature gauge now bounces like a twitchy seismometer. Need to research where the sending unit is on the engine to start checking the wire for continuity. Also check the gauge to make sure all wires and crimps are secure.
2. Tail lights are not all operating now, assume the bulbs are burnt out. Driver side only outboard one works, and passenger side only inboard one works.
3. The 12V receptacle inside the dash to power the in-dash TV does not work. (First time we tried to use it, but no power. Did not take the time to trace the lines, just a quick plug in and no power. Current TV uses AC
4. Every time it rains the cruise control will fail. But in a very particular way. If I enter the rain with cruise control on, I can use it. If I brake to interrupt it, I can reengage it, but only to last commanded position prior to entering rain. If I turn the motor home off, or actually click the cruise control to the off position, I will not be able to use cruise control again for a couple of days. I assume everything must dry out. Anyone else have this odd little gremlin?

To Do:
1. Complete the clearance light conversion to LED
2. Complete the exterior lighting conversion to LED
3. Research headlamp replacement options
4. Add an inverter/controller/charger
5. Add Flexible solar panels to the roof
6. Re-apply clear coat to the top 1/6th of the coach (curved area above upper trim line)
7. Add a slide out compartment for an outdoor entertainment center

Don't know if this helps since mine is a 350. The remote start/stop wires run from the Gennie between the skins to the switch locations. On mine the wire bundle is accessible by taking down the center fore and aft pannel or dropping the mid coach bent fan.

Team,
Just returned from my business trip. Pulled the mob out of storage and picked up where I left off.
First weekend back:
1. Replaced all incandescent bulbs in outdoor lights and marker lights with leds
2. Fixed the oil leak
3. Replaced oil filter

Weekend to do:
1. Verify if alternator has a built in voltage regulator and replace. If not, add external voltage regulator.
2. Install steering stabilizer
3. Install voltmeter, USB, and 12v power station in the dash

Thanks Kota!

Finished today:
1. Installed the voltmeter and USB addition to the dash
2. Installed a new radio with DVD player, bluetooth, and aux line in
3. Moved the old dash CD player to the back to replace the cassette player in the off chance the low volume was due to the receiver. It was!
4. Verified no voltage regulator on the alternator

To Do:
1. LED the front clearance lights
2. Install steering stabilizer
3. Install external voltage regulator

Hi Vycan, please post details when you can...what was the oil leak, what did you learn about the voltage regulator, what LED lights are you using etc. much appreciated!

Have you changed out the rear turn and brake lights to led?

Thanks, Sebas

SebasSF, the oil leak was from a component on the curbside of the engine, i believe it is the air compressor, coming loose. the vibrations loosened the top retaining nut, and the bottom retaining nut was gone. Replaced the retaining nut, torqued, and the big leak loosing 1qt/100miles is gone. minor one is still there.

No luck on finding the voltage regulator. emailing spartan to figure it out. Hoping it is not like dodge trucks with it built into the PCM.

I wired up an external voltage regulator as a backup, but need a diode to complete the install... sadly Radio Shacks seem to be going out of business. Once I get it, will test and verify. Managing voltage by load in the mean time.

LEDs in all external lights now except halogens. looks very sharp.

Unless yours is different from my 94 and 95 the voltage regulator is internal to the alternator.

The only electronics involved with managing the drivetrain (PMC) is the Allison Transmission controller. Its stand alone with the only connections to the engine being the throttle position sensor and exhaust brake.

Kota,

Yep, got the same from spartan. Got the new alternator. Don't suppose there's an easy way to swap it out, or any lessons learned?

SebasSF,

Glad to assist. Just got to San Fran area

Not terrible to get at but takes some contortion. Very easy to do from the rear with the radiator and CAC assembly removed.
