345 woodgrain background

Hi! I recently purchased a woodgrain decal for my 86 345 but Airstream does not carry the dark gray/charcoal decal that goes behind the woodgrain. Has anyone found a paint color that will match the existing. I do not need to replace but one side of the woodgrain so I need to match the gray decal on the other side of the mh.
Thanks,
Pete

If you can't find original stuff, you might try going to a vinyl sign maker. The kind of place that produces bus wraps and outdoor vinyl signage. They should be able to match any color on roll material. Make sure they know the intendid use is for outdoor as their inks vary as to the durability under different UV conditions. GOOD LUCK!

Hi! thanks for the response but I'm trying to locate a paint color that will match the decal...I don't want to replace this again. One airstream dealer said that Sears lawn mower gray would match but Sears does not sell their lawn mower gray paint and to me it looked to be too light.

Don't know if the grey color is the same as the grey on my 89. Check with Inland RV, I purchased touchup paint in a spray can for the lower grey area. Mabe it's the same color. Be sure to have them double check, because the freifgt is more then the paint and costly!

One of our local auto paint supply store has a portable device that is used to color match. If you have an area about the size of a playing card, they can match your color. This might be a way to go for you.

pjdude, we took off the decal completely and painted the whole stripe with a standard automotive paint almost black. The new woodgrain looks GREAT on top of that.
Or you could leave the woodgrain off and paint purple and green swirlys on it, if it suits you. Don't be too much of a slave to "original".
P.S. I think I have a roll of woodgrain decal that you can have for the shipping cost. Send me an email or a private message.

I have replaced all of the decals on our '86 345. I was able to get the woodgrain from Airstream and I took a piece of the background gray to a Dupont Autoshop Supply and they matched the color.

I've been touching up my gray areas with Duplicolor Storm Gray T414 from the local auto parts store. Seems to be a good match for the lower areas and beneath the wood grain. You could also try this search for further details
