hey,
Remember when I said the instructions for my new suburban furnace stated the need for a thermostat that had an off mode? I went to the hardware store and got a 12 volt themostat . Well that off mode cuts power to the them. Mine is set to as low as it gets, which is 50 degrees. And it turns off. But, once the temp. Gets below 50 it cycles and want to kick on heat. I got the propane off, so the fan just cycles. So, I'll have to get a themostat that has an off position. I so wish the mfgers would say why you need what they require. It would help keep the aggravation factor low... DJ
Amazon has these for $14 (Plus $151 with EXPERT installation)
I just replaced my original thermostat that had a ON OFF switch at the bottom.
The new one does not have a OFF switch but declares it is OFF all the way to the left.
If you get desperate you could always put a switch in series with the wires, but that could get ugly.
