310 mirror sizes
My mirrors are un-matched and a bit flaky.
Can someone please measure their flat black plastic mirror sizes and let me know. I also need to know the distance from the top of the mirror to the mounting hole.
I plan on changing mine to stainless steel if I can get the size. I dont like the originals so much.

Montreal, try and do a search within the Classic motorhome section about mirrors. Seems like Keyair ordered some. Mine on my moho are black plastic that came with motorhome. The top section is power controlled, and heated. Now that I think about it, a few more owners have upgraded their outside mirrors.

The original mirrors are a simple fixed mirror on a cast Aluminum base.
Out of that sprouts a chrome rod, which the mirrors are attached...
They are marginal and needed to go!
The mirrors I got are Velvac.
Ramco does a nice one too.
Just going out the door so will post more info later...

I like the Velvacs, they cover the holes and look and work much better.

Sorry, no help. Back in the day, there was a great AS dealer in Boise that knew their stuff. They found them for me, but checking my files, I see only "mirrors".

My Velvac Mirrors..
Comparison of foot and mirror size..
Stock Mirror mounting holes..
Testing...
Using the lower fwd hole...
I suggest, based on my experiments, the RH mirror be mounted further rearward as it is shrounded by the window frame in the above position..
Like this...

Now, I am making a adapter/spacer that mounts the new Mirror to the old holes..
It will also move the mirror outboard about an Inch and space/tilt the top out to correct the Airstream's body curve...
Otherwise it looks like this...
Here you can see the amount it needs... see the gap between teh body and foot.

Key those aren't the original Airstream. Those are an aftermarket Velvac that cost less than $20. I recently bought a pair. Without the stick on convex mirror on the bottom of yours they are a good size. I have a convex mounted on an extension similar to yours but mounted above the main mirror. The original Airstream mirrors had a cast aluminum back painted black. The front was two piece with the convex at the bottom. Just trying to keep the info straight.

I think we are discussing an upgraded mirror hich seems to be fitted on the later classic 345 etc. I wanted a bigger mirror as I'm new to driving something this size and my original mirrors look rubbish now.
Keyair, How are you fixing the new mirrors to the side? Are the screws just self tapping into the skin or is it a nut and a bolt accessed from inside the trim panels?

Dan, as always, a wealth of good info!
Montreal, from what I can see and what I read, there is a plate behind the foot area, rather than captive nuts, that would not support the skin.
The plate is not much bigger than the mirror foot from the sounds I get when tapping the area.

My plan, when I get to it, is to make an adapter plate/beauty cover that bolts into the original holes, and then the mirror bolts to that.

My original mirrors on my 88 345 are Ramco and like Derek's (crazeevw) they have a top power/heated mirror and and lower convex mirror all in one plastic housing. They are rather pricey but must be well made because the power units still function and I finally had cause to test the heaters on a recent run from D.C. to N.C. and was very thankful to find they both heated right up defogging the glass in no time, several times coming down I-85 in dense fog.

The black ones in my post are Velvac 2025.
They are great, and far better than those original units.
The only issue with them is they need an adaptor plate to mount them.
The mounting holes do not line up, and because of the curve on the Airstream body, they lean inward.
I built my own, and will post some pics in a few mins.
