TSP(trisodium phosphate) in water cleans the vinyl really well. Wear rubber gloves it's a strong base. Trying to find recent post someone had pics of before and after TSP cleaning and it was a marked difference.

If it's the vinyl clad try to clean it to your level of comfort. Painting the stuff doesn't work out well.

Interior Painting

Tony,

I have listened and will acquiesce to your experience Sir. I will no longer paint the walls -- which by the way I have concluded as some have offered that it is a vinyl material wallpaper NOT plastic walls!

Thank You sooo much for keeping me from committing a big mistake.

I guess I'd like to wall paper over the vinyl now -- How does that sound!

I think youve made a good decision not to paint. I have no idea about installing wall paper, at least its easier to remove than paint if it doesnt work out.

As I outlined above, I have successfully installed wallcovering over the vinyl.
This product did worked for me (I have professionally used it for over 20 years): CLEAR Zinsser Shieldz for glossy surfaces
Zinsser 1-gal. Shieldz Acrylic Clear Wall Size (4-Pack)-2101 - The Home Depot
Here are a few considerations:
Do NOT use any vinyl wallcovering, because:
1. It will shrink in 120 degrees in the summer
2. It may mildew since its a non porous product over non porous walls
Best suitable are woven or natural wallcovrings, like fabrics, or grasscloth (as I used before )
Make sure you camper does not have any leaks, because it will loosen and stain this type of wallcoverings.

Best solution yet, is to clean and keep the laminated vinyl and devote your decorating energy to the areas around it, unless you own one of the early to mid 90's trailers with all the laminated flower vinyl
