Hello, it is my Airstream you are looking for. I bought it from Kees in Holland and enjoy my 250 since many years now. Your comment is right. It seems to be the only one built in 1973 and the very last one ever built. So the 250 is back home in Bremen / Germany and in good shape.

Welcome aboard the forum Split Window!
Wow. Your new coach is fantastic looking, so pristene.
I'm wondering about your handle here. Is that a reference to the early 50s VWs or the 1963 corvette. I'm hoping it's the VWs. As that would make the perfect companion to your coach.
I did a west coast tour last summer with my 911 in tow and had many Europeans chat me up about the idea of towing a car with the motorhome.
It seemed strange to them. Is this not done there in Germany?
So glad to have you join us here on the forum. Love having the international perspective on the RV world. Look forward to many updates as you get on the road.
Cheers Richard

Perry and Colline have been having annual parties for quite a while. It's highly recommended; you'll see! Super place, frankly the whole set up is nuts, but works perfectly. We've fond family memories of our time there.

Hi Streamers
So first of all.
My first Camper was a 63 VW T1 "split window" Camper.!! 30years ago.
The first trip with my new MoHo was a success. It runns perfect.
We had a nice Easter-Weekend and sleep very well.
Pic in the eveningsun.
But the date for the Meeting is not made for us. We are not free at that Weekend, sad. We are at an other place with my children. Other time other place. Because I like to get more contact to Airstream-Driver in Germany,Europe. In German we say "Benzingespräche" "gasoline talks".
So far for the Moment... later more..
all the best for you all...

One think more
The 345 with 911 is a phantastic view.
In Germany it is not allowed to tow a car on his weels.! You have to use a Trailer. But this is more secure and it is allowed to tow up to 3,5tons.!

The 'rules' are a little different in the UK. You can tow wheels down but there is a weight limit for the combination (7.5 tonnes max) over which you need a special driving license.

Errr...... negative Brad, but most of us can drive the Motorhomes on our standard car licenses. That was phased out for younger people when we got into bed with our European bedfellows in the late 90s, but anyone over about 40 retained their existing rights.

Martin - we won't be going to Perry's this year. We're off to The Italian Lakes providing all is well with the van. I need to order a few parts from the states to make sure I have enough spares. In fact, does anyone have a list of recommended spares to carry round? I vaguely remember a thread on this a few years back.

We also passed through Niedersachsen, Splitwindow, just a few weeks ago on our way to the Polar Circle. We got back home just a few days ago, through Poland and the Baltics, ferry to Finland and then North of the Arctic Circle to Norway and the coastal route back home. 8,100 kilometers in 4 weeks without any problem. She keeps going and turns heads wherever we go.

first Saison
Hello Airstreamers
Now the Saison is nearly at the end for me I will post something
about my experience with my 250 Diesel.
It was fantastic to use it. I do different trips around Germany and one
longer tour to Sweden. Most are weekend-tours with a trailer for my other
"hobby-cars". Most times I meet friends they have the same type oldtimer.
We use these cars as they made for. You will see....
one of the first test-tour, with my old camping-trailer, Pic 1
The 250 is running perfect, but also learning and using. I read in forum and manuals that the gearbox getting hot
and can make problems. So I install a oil-thermometer for the gearbox. So I can see what is going on inside.
New filter and oil etc...
If I use a trailer (1500kg) and I have to go up hill, the gearbox getting hot in short time.
But I can see now, what is happen. I drive with one eye on the thermometer. It work.
My first real tour, I meet friends in the area of Brilon, we call it "Sauerland"
It was the Easter-Weekend, we always meet us.
And, we use them ... Old VW Kübel and "Schwimmwagen" from WWII....
This first trip was perfect to test the 250.
Everything work, and fuel-consumption was ok. Diesel.!!
I enjoy so much this Airstream. My old dream...
I know, use a hotel, is more cheap. so what.... I feel home.......
to be continued If you like

My next Tour was only a long weekend-trip to test my VW166,
use the time to look around a nice area at the river "Weser"
the weather was perfect and the "166" work fine.
now I own this AS, I do more small trips on weekend than before.
If there is free time......,
The moment I start at home, the holiday begins...
On most of this trips I take one of my "VW-Oldtimer", go around, look the area, go shopping,...
better with small cars...
To be continued
