New Antenna

Finally got around to pulling off the old TV antenna and replacing it. I pulled the amidships panel down to find a leak. Sure enough it was coming from the antenna crank and the hole where the coaxial comes in the skin of the RV.

I have been putting it off for quite some time, and therefore any forward progress on the inside since I need to fix that first. Finally had a day in the low 70's with a nice breeze blowing to keep things cool. So anyway, got out the moving pad and 1/4" plywood and up I went..... Did I happen to mention, I hate climbing up there?

Scrapped all the old sealant to get at the screws. Here's the old antenna where it landed in the yard.

Got most of the crap scrapped off only to realize there was another disk to remove.

Off course with air stream it is not a simple replacement.... So how to get the square peg in the round hole..... Looks like it is time for the multi tool!

Widened the hole and attached it. Used an inner layer of butyl tape on the inside rim, than sikaflex 715 n the outside rime and around the edge and all screws. Since the base plate shape was different I put in 4 pop rivets where the old holes were and covered with sikaflex as well.

Hmm ..... amidships ..... sounds like a nautical term, imagine that

It's always a nice feeling to plug another leak. In your line of work I would imagine that's a pretty important deal

I just installed the same antenna in another friends camper. It's turned out to be pretty cool with the signal meter.

Well the inside signal meter had a loose wire and was cutting out 80% of the time. Called King and a replacement part is in its way.

Does anyone have a source if supply for the outside door handle for a 91 MoHo? The lopsided torque being applied (only bottom side engages locking mechanism) finally cracked the handle. I called Inland rv on Monday. Spoke to the girl and was told they would call right back. Experience has shown unless you know the part number or talk to Andy directly mot much hope.

Will try airstream later today or look at retrofitting if no joy by next week.

Dave, those door handles are not that easy to find. Keyair got the only one I had seen in in the wild. The only other possibility I can think of is that 310 diesel that was being parted out on ebay a while back. Sellers name is Runamuck12 so it might be worth contacting him to see if it's available.

Good luck!

Brad

You might also contact the seller of this burned 310 and see if he will put you in touch with the buyer. The coach is only good for parts so it might be worth a try.

Are you talking about the upper handle with the deadbolt or lower handle?

Dave, does your door have the Keeler lockset? Those handles are available through VTS. I bought and installed one just a few months ago. I tried to find a picture of a '91 350s door handle but failed.

Mike are you referring to this Grab Handle at VTS?

It's my understanding this style was used on the Argosies and possibly early Classics. I think all the later Classics used the style with the dead bolt installed.

Lower handle? Can you post a picture of the lower handle?

I think I just answered my own question. The 350 has the fancy electric activated lockset. My '82 310 has the unobtainable Keeler lock. I was referring to the lock handle but its a different lockset. http://www.vintagetrailersupply.com/...-p/vts-929.htm

The MoHo is in the shop for a bad bearing..... I have no place to park it on level ground to do it myself...

That handle looks about right.... Will stop over tomorrow to measure.

Brad: the 310 that was being parted out was in a wreck and the door never made it home.

So you weren't looking for the grab handle that is beside the door and contains the door bell button, you were looking for the handle in the door itself.

I totally misunderstood what you were looking for!

Hopefully the one from VTS is what you need.

Well finally getting around to posting about the door handle fix. The handle in the door (at least on mine) was a Trimark latch handle found in the larger motor home storage bays. Local RV shop was able to provide a replacement. BUT like all things for these classics it required a bit of modification.

The handle through did not have a long enough travel for the length of rod. Additionally it would bind up. A couple of minutes with a grinder and problem fixed.

Now the only issue is the bolt sticks out to far to allow the panel to go back on.

So I will use a cutting wheel to shorten. Next weekend a plan on trying to get the inside door panels off while it is still cool out. I will use them as a pattern to cut new panels out of the interior grade aluminum..... Should look a whole lot better then the vinyl!

Well it turn out not to be a bd Bering but a stuck caliper. Luckily my normal RV shop was a few hundred yards down the road...How often does that happen!?!

Replaced the calipers and rotors, pads, and rotors. The master cylinder was not holding pressure when they went to billed it. So that was replaced as wheel. It was on my short list of things to do.

A HUGE difference in stopping power! Granted it now only takes 3 football files instead of 4 to stop.
