Derek, just use an Olympic Rivet. If you don't have any you should buy a pack of 25 or 50 to have on hand. I think you want the 5/32" variety. If they come with rubber o-rings, remove the o-ring before using. Also, dip the end of the rivet in Vulkem before installing the rivet. Others may disagree but I've found that you want to have enough Vulkem on the rivet such that you have to wipe the excess off after installing the rivet.

After "popping" the rivet you'll need to trim the stem off and then file it down or buy a rivet shaver and trim it down that way. I have the shaver and it sure helps if you have a lot of rivets to do like I do on my Argosy

Brad

Ordered Olympic Rivets from Vintage Trailer Supply, THANKS Brad and Steve! Onto another question. Anyone have any idea what size center center cap I need for rear wheels? I've tried measuring across and depth but still end up with wrong size.

Thoughts?

Thanks, Derek

Power Seat Switch part number

Discovered recently while changing out front captains chairs, that I now have a non-functioning power seat switch.

Anyone have a GM Part number for this? Any ideas where to purchase at a reasonable price?

Thanks, Derek

Derek,

I am out of town for the next week but will look in my Chevy miho manuals when I get home if still needed.

What about just replacing it with an aftermarket switch?

aftermarket switch

Hi Dave,

The connector with all of the wiring is a fairly large connector. Have a feeling I'd be better off sticking with a GM unit.

Thanks, Derek

Did you check under the carpet under the seats? We had a nasty surprise there....the floor was rusted out....from water from the street splashing up.....hope you don't have this problem. Paula

Steve,

The seat control switches are actually a Ford product from the 70s and 80s Mercury line of vehicles. Possibly other models as well.

Followed Brads advice, looked up link he sent via email. Paula, I'll be sure to lift carpet under seats to check for rust.

Thanks, Derek

I needed to re-wire the passenger seat in my coach as well. I think since the seat will swivel and face the living area the wires gets stressed. I used my power probe and proved the switch worked and the seat motors would run when energized I determined the wires were the problem. I made a new harness with the same color wires and used the old wires to snake my new harness down the door panel (there is no door) and under the carpet to the seat motors. I made the new harness a little longer so there is no stress on the wires when you swivel the seat around. I thought it would be easier to connect the new wires to the seat motors if I removed the seat from its mount and it was but getting the seat back on the pedestal was a real bear. YMMV. Steve
