Do you mean a 345 Classic, and is it the propane or fuel tank? I am assuming the fuel tank. If so you might check a Chevrolet dealer since it is a GM bus chassis.

the problem is with the fuel tank guage.
when the ignition is turned on the guage sometimes reads full,at other times it reads empty.
could the problem be with the fuel tank sender?
if it's in the sender where could one be found ?
Hi, If it's anything like my old Alfa the sender is inside the tank. It is usually mounted by 4-5 screws and you may see a mounting externally with two wires to it. You will have to remove the screws and pull it out.
If it sometimes reads full or empty you should try gently cleaning the electrical contact 'track' that varies the resistance that is interpreted by the actalu dash gauge. Use thinners and you see alot of grime. Also check the float has no holes and can still float in petrol.
Finally if the float is allowed to flot too high this can push the contact off the top of the track causing the gauge to suddendly drop to zero!
The metal arm can be bent so that the gauge still reads full but the contact is not too high on the track.
You will need an assistant as you cant see the dash gauge.
Its very simple once you take it out and manually move it to see how it registers at the dash.
Montreal, all great advice, only problem, Motorhomes have 80 gallon tanks, not 12 or 14 gallon. There is a thread in here somewhere dawhiteky that has step-by-step instructions on how to drop our 80 gallon fuel tanks. If I can find it, I'll be sure to post the link next.
Thanks, Derek
