I remember when I finished my last one as well....I also remember when I started the first..and I said to myself.."Really ???"

Got the chairs, sofa, and the dinette out. Sofa is at the upholsterers. I plan on taking the beast to the RV Doctor by the end of the week to get stuff I can't do taken care of. In the meantime I replaced two more lights. I am still debating whether I am keen on them or not. The one on the shelf is waiting for the 12v Edison bulb to arrive.

345 is now in the hands of the "professionals" for a while. Took it up to the Rv place to have stuff I either don't have the ability or tools for completed. In the mean time I am waiting for the wall upholstery to arrive so I can do the walls.

By the way, where did you buy the oxy... pressure increasing, water saving shower head? Amazon?

Thanks! I still need to go through to the shower and use par bond or something on some of the seams and on the screws. I have a Shub on order for the opening. Ordered a new thetford style 2 toilet from camping world that should be fun to install. Ugh... I ordered the oxygenics head from Amazon. We already have one in the Safari and it is fantastic, especially when boondocking. I am kind of addicted to Amazon Prime. Can't resist the overnight shipping!

Ok, you don't have to share that private info, just know how good you make us fools feel, who try to do everything ourselves ( even if you have to buy 2k tool to accomplish the task)

Haha! I can only do limited repairs in the cave and I haven't worked up the courage to try backing down the driveway yet!

Gonna let them repair the grey pipe on the water system. Later I'll probably run PEX. I am having them install screw fittings on the leads to the faucets so I can replace the faucets. Repairing inop rear furnace. Checking/repairing/replacing grey and black tanks. I just don't have the facilities to test for leaks. While he is down there I am having him install a tornado tank cleaner thingy. Testing the water heater once he gets the water system repaired. Sealing the windshield. It moves around when I am driving and leaks like crazy. Also having them replace the heater core as I have no place to dump antifreeze that would run out. Having them check/repair the transmission leak as well.


When I get it back gonna install the toilet and we bought some wool blankets to reupholster the upholstered parts of the walls with.

If you thought putting new seals in the windows was tough, wait til you replace waterlines in a furnished Airstream.
I have used all the different types available (pex crimped and screw type) but just now replaced a bunch of CPVS waterlines in the 97 Excella trailer I am working on.

I used a 2 part cement, 1 is the purple primer the other the adhesive. I like the fact that you can replace lines in the tightest spots. The crimping tools for PEX are huge and most of the time you can not operate it in confined places. You could pre fab it and then try to squeeze it in place, but that does not work to well either.
From now on I will only use CPVS.
Just one fools opinion.
And they make a real pretty pattern if they should freeze

Kreimer, What an incredible story. Reminds me of our restoration. It seems we did about 70% of it 5 years ago but the remaining 30% is never ending. What a thrill it is though to own one of these amazing coaches!.. Welcome to the club. Like you, ours is a 1987 345 and originally it had the same interior that you had. The PO of our coach were dear friends of mine which I have served with in Lions Club for many years. She sold it to us after her husband had passed away. For months after we bought it, she would bring things to us that she had found while going through her late husband's things. Among those were two Airstream caps the dealer had given them when they bought the coach new, the original sales brochure which shows the interior color scheme we both had, and the huge owners manual. As a printer I have reproduced the sales manual as a collectable and would be happy to send you one if you like. I could also copy the owners manual if you don't have one. Let me know. I should also post some pics of our completed project.
Only thing else I might like to do, Mr. Keyair is to complete the exterior with a polish job as you have done. What costs are involved and what is the maintenance like for a finish like that. Who did it for you? Thanks all, Kenneth

A copy of the sales manual would be terrific! I have an electronic copy of the owners manual. I have really been having fun fixing her up. We are supposed to go camping first weekend in April. I am hoping she is ready by then. If not, we can take the trailer I suppose... :-) I would love to see pictures of your coach.I am anxious to get the furniture back and installed to see what ours will look like.

So I have been thinking about the carpet in the front of the coach. Since I have changed out the rest of the floor to a wood the dusky rose carpet in the cockpit looks weird. The carpet itself isn't in awful condition. Rather than replace it what are y'all so opinion about having it dyed? I am thinking a very dark brown. I figure that would eliminate some of the headache trying to recover the doghouse as well.

no no no Go ahead and rip it out. I replaced every single piece of carpet out of mine and it was really no big deal. Do it while you have the furniture out. I took mine out really carefully and in complete pieces so I could use each them as patterns. I used a replacement carpet with a slightly longer pile so it would be more forgiving as it went back in. Dog house was done the same way. But where I put the new carpet back on the floors just as you would a house(with new tack strips of course!), I used 3m spray adhesive and a pneumatic stapler on the dog house. Came out perfect. Here are some pics of our interior. As you can see we replaced all the carpet except for entryway and kitchen area. There we used hand scraped wood. For all the furniture I used ultra leather remnants I found online. The cost of all that new material was less than $600! What a find!!
