1987 325 tag axle brakes

I've recently had my front brakes seize up on me. Caused the rig to shutter and had to stop. Now having brakes redone. The Tag Axle brakes were not even hooked up and disintegrated. Having them hooked up they now have constant power to them.
Any ideas as to why this would be?

On the base of the steering column on the left side is the controller for the tag brakes. Mine had an acorn nut which when removed revealed a shaft to adjust. Yours may have failed, is out of adjustment or your brakes are connected to a wrong circuit.

If it is the same setup as my ‘87 345 There should be a box under the dash attached to the left side of the steering column that has the control for the electric brakes on the tag. There is a dial that you can turn to control the current to the brakes. It works like a trailer brake controller. I could be wrong but this is what I have been told.

Hey,
When you say, my front brakes, did you mean front wheels? As in steer axle? If that is what you mean t, I'd be looking at the master cylinder. You could have one wheel start to lock up, that could be a caliper hanging up and then overheating. But if both are dragging badly, I'd suspect the master. The master has two pots one for front and one for the rear. When applying the brakes I believe on our coaches, they engage just like a P 30 chassis.
When this happened, did you feel the front hubs, to see if one or both were really hot.
I'm not sure, but maybe the brake line off the master that goes to the tag axle controller under the dash could be causing a problem. But I don't see how it acting up could back feed into the master cylinder. DJ

Another common problem is the rubber hoses connecting the steel tubing to the calipers. They deteriorate from the inside and allow pressurized brake fluid to flow but not return leaving the brakes partially applied.

You know, I was thinking of brakes hoses too. But what are the odds of both swelling up and locking the brakes. Suppose it's possible, if you got the brakes real hot. Dragging caliper, master cylinder, then hoses, what was the scenario in which the occurred. How did it start. DJ
