But if I was crazy enough to keep her, what do you say about the mold v. musty question? Or the campground question? Those are big factors for me in deciding whether to nurse her along and work on her gradually ourselves. Do I have to do a major overhaul just to be allowed into most campgrounds?

I would suggest parking your unit in Arizona for a month, in the summer, and the mold/mildew problem will be resolved...the problem you have is either a water leak in the pipes or a water leak in the skin, and that has to be addressed...if you want to sell it, parting it out will bring more money, but it will take time and a lot of effort to do so; then, you are left with the carcass.
Selling it whole is a loss, but you have a simple solution. Keeping it will satisfy a part of you that originally bought it...I do not envy you your choices, but, personally...I would keep mine

I have to say that the work I have put in so far to ours feels like the tip of the Iceberg... I know there is a long way to go yet.
But I will tell you that my recent brief drive from the old to new storage really cemented the way I feel about it.

The stares, turned heads, dropped jaws, and pointed fingers was such a feelgood....

Now, you can get that in a Ferrari, but here is the kicker for me....
Made in America, instantly recognisable, and the older it gets, the better it looks on the street. The fact that people looking and talking to you grin and know what it is.
For me, the fact that everyone loves it is the bomb!

We were parked in a small town, wife shopping. I had just installed a new stereo system and was anxious to crank it. A father and son appeared on the sidewalk, I turned it down, but they'd heard the Moody Blues already. The little kid made a beeline to touch Bess, and I heard the father say, "party bus".

The coach looks great, Key! However, I miss the wrap. I replaced my thin and thick ones with blue years ago, but never did anything with the "simulated wood trim". If I ever do, it'll be to this, which is an AS wrap. Call me old fashioned, call me a fool, but I like that blue AS trim.

Can you still get the blue or black/wood trim? I am currently removing the badly cracked pin striping and am considering painting it. You get about 10 good years out of new striping before it fades and/or cracks up. The blue looks real nice and typically is the excella color theme.
This is what I did with my previous 79 rig, to go with the new awning colors

We can have this discussion over on my thread but briefly...
A wide stripe along a body, pinches it down and makes it appear lower/longer...
My opinion is that the 310 looks fine and balanced with the stripe...
The normal 345 is very borderline...
My 345 is unusual as it has no dinette windows on the streetside... this makes it look even longer and skinnier!
I like the blue too(dislike the woodgrain lots!), but I want the M/H to look as tall as possible, so I am 99% sure I will forgo the wider stripe, but I am sure I will go with the lower trim and replace it when the polishing and repairs are finished!

Only Andy would know about the trim being around anymore, it used to be available at AS dealers, which are becoming fewer and fewer. I have saved my trim by using WD-40 a lot. I love the Excella color scheme (having had two of them in the past, one a trailer and the other a mo/ho). I know Smartstream had his wrap re-done at a decal shop and was pleased, until he got the bill.

Good idea, that's where I got some pieces of plastic blue trim. I'd sure love to root their parts bins!

Blue Trim

I was at the 2012 Florida State Airstream Rally in Sarasota this year, and I want to say that the Airstream 'store' had blue trim available, cuz I remember looking at it for a very long time trying to decide if it would go with my LE blue paint.....
Decided against it, then found where someone had bought a huge roll of the black trim and hid it in one of my compartments. Do remember the trim from Airstream wasn't cheap either!

I would keep your coach. Dont worry about everthing working for now. Get her to a useful condition for you inside, work on it yourself (you will learn alot and always have the tools). You will save enough in labour to buy another good one if you do it right. Dont sell as you will not be offered a great deal. W

Ooops...When I was looking the best coach I ever saw was a 325 which the guy sold for $16,500 it was original and perfect. I bought mine for $7000 to save on UK taxes which are applied based on the value. It has since had specialist work to get it useable and about 1 month of work from me so far. I have been amazed by the reaction it gets over here. We even had some woman hugging it the other day! That should be enough to keep you going.
Get it watertight 1st and go from there.

D

You have to be a little crazy.Like I was when I bought my 345 in 1986 new.It has been a great life and now as I hit retirement I have concluded a new engine and new rugs are the best way to go for me and my wife.Less than the cost of the sales tax on a new rig in my state. Here we go for another 250,000 miles.

Cosmetics are one thing, but mechanical stuff is NECESSARY...looking good on the side of the road in a meltdown is still side of the road...I couldn't honestly put a price on my 345, as what it(She) has given me is a peace of mind you just can't price...I kinda like the idea of being buried in her, but if I had those bucks, She'd be, well, coffin up the bucks...
Might I suggest a long stay in the desert to dry out the mold...?m
