It's a relief to know that I'm not the only one living in the midst of mechanical mayhem!
Life is what we make it, and we generally tend to make it into what we want it to be. The truth is quite simple; the more crab you have, the more crab you'll have. If you were to get rid of all of your miscellaneous rolling stock and related headaches, you would immediately set out to replace it with more of the same. That's just how we roll.
We're all going to be dead for a really long time, so treasure every moment of lunacy.
The only thing to fear is the day that you'll have nothing to do, and the possibility that you'll be too old or frail to start another project.
Personally, I hope to drop dead in the midst of some crazy endeavor.......... a long time from now.

LOL!
Well, you will be pleased to know that here, your Sig can only have 5 lines.....
I need 10!
Today, I fixed the drivers seat adjuster motor, that had shed a drive cable, and resoldered the seat heater wire... I NEEDED that in SoCal, as it was like 90 here today!
I just worked out that I have 68 pistons and 47.4 Liters in my collection!
I was once told that he who dies with the most toys wins...

Ok, like most sites, if you are not registered, you have to tolerate the ads... but some even block the pics.

Good!
Well the Interior is back in the Jeep, and all functional now!
Feels good!
Took me 2 days tho, cos "Someone" had spilt a HUGE amount of coffee in the interior. It was all down the center Console, and pooled like concrete under the seats... YUK! As I know it was not me I have to assume it was my family last time they used it!
Took me all morning with my Bissel Carpet cleaner before the extracted water was running cleanish... the stains seem to have gone, but I bet its deep into the Jute backing under the carpet.
Now awaiting parts from RockAuto for the other issues.
When I last drove it, I noticed it was doing a weird shimmy over bumps... I now know this is called "Death Wobble". I thought it was the biggest wheel and tire combo I had on...
I had recently put Bilstein Shocks on it, but it was still doing it.
A deep investigation turned up some worn steering and suspension parts
I discovered that the Pitman Arm Track rod end is worn, as well as the steering box pitman shaft bearing. Also, the Track Bar Bushing is worn.
I am planning to pull this as my Toad.
Here are some pics of my Jeep on its 20's!

I just get the Jeep finished, and begin eyeing the Motorhome for the next step... and my Girlfriend INSISTS that I accompany her to Kauai on a Business trip... .
Again, I am forced to endure waking up to the Sun rising across the Beach...
I am just gonna have to sit her down and give her a STERN talking to, when we get back...

Mr Key,
I have to ask...have you had the tow bar reinforced??? it is an absolute necessity to safe toad pulling, and while I realize you have attention to detail, it's one of those things that will bite you in the butt...I would hate to read about a separation at 60mph, and after your dedication to your unit, it is a small expense...m

Don't worry..
NOTHING is gonna be attached to the back of MY Airstream before that well planned, beefy reinforcement is done!
I think the Kerb weight of my 5.9 Grand is about 5000lb, so also I will need the Toad brakes too...

Thanks for the encouragement...I knew you were smart, but then, I thought I was...the learning curve just seems to get sharper, and the road miles a little shorter...come on down to Quartzsite this winter(yep, it's really spelled that way), and throw a log on the fire...I hoist one to you, and would like to meet you...it ain't far when ya finally get on the road...our camp is ALWAYS open, and the friendships we have gained here will always be friendships...remarkable community of folks, and a wonderful support of friends...kinda like Silverton...leave yer car for a few days, leave the keys in the ignition, and return to both...I guess I could try to live in Dallas, Denver, Houston, etc...I basically just want to live...and our AS allows this future...you have a wonderful future ahead of you, and you have chosen the right direction to aim it at...share some of it with us...m

We are at the Hyatt Regency, In Poipu, Kauai.... Stunning!
Would you believe that we spent the whole flight planning our "Shakedown" trips for the Airstream...
We are SO looking forward to getting it on the road, and would love to meet our fellow Classic owners in some yet unvisited part of the USA!

How about renting ALL of the repair bays in YOUR favorite RV Repair center. a different site. state each year.
then reserving rooms at the closest Hilton. Or Gaylords Opryland in Nashville
and having a blast visiting about work being dome to our beloved A.S. M.H. and taking Bets if we can all make it Home with out a major breakdown over drinks by the Pool.

Good idea John!
Well, I made a small step forward today... at the DMV...
Seems the last time I was there the person messed up my paperwork..
I knew I would not get the Tags and plates until I smogged it.
I never got the Registration, or the renewal, and I had moved house.
Tried to do the address change online, but as they took the Kansas plates at the DMV in Kansas, and no California plates, it would not accept it..
So I made an appointment...
Bottom line was that they needed me to bring the M/H to the DMV for VIN verification!
I was not told that..
Anyway, I got a $76 refund for what I overpaid last year, and now its in PNO, pending VIN inspection, and when I get it smogged!
Phew!
