1984 310 Diesel Airstream Motorhome

Hello Everyone,

We have a 1984 310 Diesel Motorhome. I have three (3) items I need your advice on.

1- The dash lights fuse. The fuse does not have power to either side of it. The fuse is good. There has to be another fuse in front of it I cannot find. Any ideas?

2- The Flexsteel passenger seat. The passenger seat will not go backward. It’s stuck in the forward position. All other seat controls work great. When I try to move it back I can hear the motor try move the seat but something is bound up.

3- Small leak. In the passenger area we have a small leak and cannot find where it is coming from. The drip is just in front of the passenger seat and 4 inches off the passenger window.

The dash lights were most likely wired by the chassis manufacture. You should be able to get a wire diagram from the manufacture to see what feeds that fuse.

A guess before that would be the headlight switch or the block off the ignition switch. It is unlikely the dash light would be feed directly from the power distribution block because that would lead to frequent dead batteries.

Have you checked the dashboard dimmer wheel on the headlight switch to make sure it has not been turned to off.

I hate electrical so I won't even hazard a guess.

As for the seat it's very easy to get at the bolts to undo the seat and flip it over to grease slides and whatever else needs greasing.

As for the leak......that's easy. If you have a spot lamp and it hasn't been re sealed in a while that would be my first go to fix. Just remember to mask off the lamp and area around the lamp after you have cleaned out all the old sealant, before you reseal, as it's a very messy job. You also might want to check the marker lamps as I had holes that had been drilled incorrectly by the factory and never sealed properly.

Isuzu sweet, what type/brand of sealant do you use on the exterior roof?

I finally tracked down a leak (that the previous owner tried to seal from the inside) to a bad rivet connection. I sealed it with Parbond and leak gone.

You can use either Trem Pro 635 in gray or Siki Flex 221 in gray. Both easily clean up with mineral spirits.
Like I said earlier, mask off the area that you DON'T want sealant on, leaving maybe an 1/8-1/4" of metal for the sealant to attach too. Apply sealant and work it with a finger that is coated with mineral spirits to smooth out the sealant. Once you are satisfied that the sealant is smooth and you can almost see the edge of the masking tape edge, remove tape.
