1979 What?

I was looking at differant web sites looking for a argosy motorhome when I came across a couple painted 1979 Airstream motorhomes. Whats the deal , on the front was the Airstream name ,one was 28ft. and the other was a 30 ft. . Where they left over Argosys of just a opition at that time. Most 1979 models I have seen where the aluminum silver color.

1979 was the transition year where painted Argosy was becoming shiny the aluminum Airstream motorhome. In that year they actually made the painted ones and put the Airstream logo on it.
Before that Airsteam had gotten flack about making a motorhome in the traditional shape, so they called it ARGOSY to satisfy the WBCCI folks and the dealers. In 1981 the club finally started allowing Argosy and motorhomes in.
Argosy mohos began in 1974.

I bid on a factory-painted Airstream motorhome that was red, cream, and white. It kind of looked like the Yellow Submarine, only different.
