Windshield Replacement
Hello All...
I am trying to nail down the facts behind windshield replacement cost and difficulty on a 20' Argosy MH. I have seen one thread on this forum quoting a cost of $800 per side. Is this accurate? Do any of you'all have any source or direct experience with windshield replacement?
I really appreciate your suggestions and insight on this. I did a search on the forum but did not find any direct threads. Forgive me if this has been a topic with a lot of discussion in the past.
Best,
JB

That is an accurate price.
You should also consider replacing the gasket that's 36 years old.

My insurance company (CSAA) had me work with these guys: Home.
I assume, but don't know, that they sourced the windshields (I had both replaced) from Airstream.

Duncan systems is in Elkhart, Ind.
They handle glass losses for many insurance companies.
They work with a couple of different Airstream dealers or so, of which we are one of them.
Duncan Systems is a straight up well run company.

Hi Andy...
Can you tell me if the windshields of the larger Argosy's ...the 24 or 28 may work for a 20 footer???

The windshields are the same for the older Argosy and Airstream motorhomes, regardless of length. There are only 2 of them, a left and a right.
You will still need to replace the gasket and lock.

What if the glass is ok, just the gasket needs to be replaced and the windows reinstalled? How much would that usually cost?

The cost to just change the gasket depends on how bad the gasket may be, and the junk sealers that may have been applied in the past, that must be removed so that new sealers function correctly.
If the gasket has to be "cut away" then the labor hours could be 5 to 7.
If the glass can easily be removed, then the labor could ball park be 4 to 5 hours for the 2 windshields, which would included resealing.
The Forums does not allow price quotes.
