Hi Everyone! I hope I am in the right place. My other half & I just bought a 1977 Argosy 28 last Friday. It's in great shape, the owners wife saw a new one when they went to have new windows put in this one. So he bought it! Anyway, he couldn't find the manual. So we are really lost as to what to do b4 we leave the driveway. My son says we need a white hose to fill the water and a adapter for the plug in. I printed out packing checklistbut couldn't find a checklist for leaving the driveway.
Also it will need a paint job, it's ok but dull, washedout. Do we have to paint it the same ugly brown and beige?
What about chemicals? Water sofener? Bleach? Boy, is my head spinning!
Any hint will help! I guess I could ask the previous owner, but half the time he is gone.

Welcome to airstreaming and to the forums! You may want to check out the gorgeous paint job Colin Hyde (a restorer in upstate NY) did on Airstream Life's demo trailer renovation "Vintage Thunder." It's a deep lovely blue/green automotive paint. You can see it on the project blog. Of course, while you're there, you may want to subscribe to Airstream Life magazine, too!

The great thing is that you can paint the trailer almost any color. In my own personal opinion, I'm all for going with a snappy color--trying to make the Argosy look like a (silver) Airstream just makes it look like a lesser silver trailer instead of a super duper painted trailer. And Argosies are really cool, just for what they are!

However, considering that you just got the trailer, you might want to wait a few weeks. If you find you have any repairs or structural issues, you'll want to address them before painting--or you may end paying for two paint jobs!

Oh, another cool thing to do is to take a photo, then "try" out different colors with Photoshop!

most of the basic things you will need ar the same for any motorhome. A visit to your local RV store or a nearby Camoing supply would get you set. Things like hose adaptors, electric plug ins, and such. You will also want to get spare belts hoses and fuses for the engine and such. Read back in our Forum on the Mothrome info and you will be much enlightened, but don't get paranoid when you see the problems many have had, or you will find yourself looking for them to happen. The good thing is that you will be prepared when or should I say if they do.
Take short rips to wring it out before you get too bold! My first was to a campground 15 miles away for a weekender. Then we headed off for a 500 miler to Southwest Fla. A bit scared but we had a great time, and no problems. A weeklong trip for newbies is quite an adventure. I had a list two pages long of things to find out about and to buy.
It got easier from there and we have had 4 years of fun!!

Hi Donna, welcome to the Argosy Moho group. I've got a 1977 Argosy 28 and I've also got all the manuals. I'll send you a personal message (PM), probably tomorrow, detailing the different titles and I'll get you some of the info! You might as well get the proper information before you get too far out into the boondocks. If I get some help from my kids, I'll probably be able to scan them and send them through cyberspace! BTW the beige and brown sort of grows on you and I wouldn't want mine any other way.

Hi Donna, and welcome. I own a 78 28ft MH and yes you are in the right spot for info. I'm still pretty green myself this forum is not only informative but fun. I agree with ALANSD take short trips at first and get used to how everything works and feels. As for outside color I went with IMRON white with dark green stripping along the center line, one of these days I will have to post some pics. The white keeps the unit cooler down here in the florida sun. I have all manuals and documents concerning my model, I don't know how much difference there is but if I can assist in any way let me know and I will send what info I have. Well good luck and let the good times roll.
