Hokey smokes Bullwinkle! I’ve been a lurker in this thread - you are one tenacious human being!!! Can’t wait to learn more about the history (did you ever talk to the lady you thought would be about 81 by now)? Did you learn how it came to be abandoned there? Did you drink the milk/cheese??? [emoji3]

Congrats. Man you have way more sticktuitiveness than I do! Enjoy!!

His name is Ernie, he's looking for a 12 valve Cummins/Allison, and he's not going to polish it, but paint it a nice Seafoam Blue, with a white roof and white middle strip; then flip it for big bucks, give Brad the one finger salute and retire in the Turks and Caicos.

I was close?

Cheers

Nope, not even

You might be right about Ernie liking Cummins engines but that's about it. He's smart, unlike the rest of us and has no interest in owning an Argosy or Airstream.

There is still one very large fly in the ointment....getting it down off the mountain. The person I had lined up is now indisposed for the next two or three months due to his daughter having a brain tumor

So at the moment I'm looking at other options. I've got a nice shiny new (to me!) 2001 F250 Super Duty diesel crew cab pickup that's just itching to give it a try. The problem is trying to find the right trailer. I've located one that might work but I'm not sure if it has trailer brakes. Brakes are kinda important in this endeavor because no matter which direction I go to get it out of mountains the first 3 miles are pretty much straight down hill

I'm not thrilled about the idea of having 10,000+ lbs of weight trying to push me down hill with just truck brakes and engine compression to slow me down. I'm not like you Tony with nerves of steel......

Needless to say the search is on to find a workable solution.

Brad

Nope, didn't partake of the milk, or whatever it might have evolved into by now! I figured it might give me gas.....

Actually I ran out of steam back in late August. I ended up having heart surgery and that kinda slowed me down for a while. Now that things are looking up I seem to have more energy than I know what to do with, so......

As I mentioned to Tony I actually turned the information over to Ernie to see if he could track down the owner. He's more tenacious, or as I prefer to call it, bullheaded than me

The back story is the current owner purchased the Argosy 10 or 15 years ago to park on his mountain property for use as a guest house. He never put it in his name and doesn't know how to contact the original owners. My guess is he answered an ad in the newspaper, bought it and drove it up the mountain and parked it. About four years ago for some unknown reason he pulled it back out of the woods and parked it on the side of the road which is where I found it.

The rest is history.....

Brad

His name could possibly be Ernie....and we maybe finding out if this much talked about body swap is possible.

Martin; back away from the Argosy slowly.

He never put it into his name, could be a problem for anyone trying to put it into their's; especially if trying to export the beast to a foriegn country.
Could be some big hoops to jump through.

Cheers

All the best prayers from me are directed at her and hopefully her best possible speedy recovery. Hopefully her family has good medical coverage. I'd hate for her family to have to make any sort of tough decision due to finances.

Cheers

What I do know of the situation is he's self employed and operates a small one man trash service that collects trash in the neighborhood. It's possible his wife works and has health insurance but if she doesn't then they would likely be on whatever passes for ACA/Obamacare here in Kentucky. That is if he signed up for it.

He did mention something about having to travel to Washington for weeks at a time. I'm assuming he meant Washington DC and the Bethesda Cancer Clinic. Needless to say it's a sad situation. I plan on making a small donation, I'm just not sure yet how best to approach that subject with him. As you can imagine it's rather difficult to even contact him right now.

Hey Brad, I apologize if I was insensitive in my earlier responses. The National Health Service in the UK is far from perfect but it really strikes home when something like this happens and those effected do not have to think for a second about cost of treatment. I may have spent 10 of the last 15 years living in the US, but having been back here for a couple of years my only thought was 'I hope his daughter gets better' not 'how are they going to cover the cost'.

Martin, your reply was not perceived to be in any way insensitive so nothing to worry about.

This gentleman has collected my trash every week for over ten years now and out of the blue the rate went up $2 a month starting the 1st of the year. I believe I now understand the reason for the rate increase

Oddly enough just last fall I was wondering how he was managing to keep his rates the same for all those years without an increase. I know the waste treatment facility rates have gone up almost yearly but his rates never changed. Holding the same monthly rate for 10+ years is almost unheard of in this day and age.

Not with that front suspension it didn't.
How much leather is left on the soles of your shoes?

Looks like she's in good shape. How is the chassis and frame?

Cheers

The front springs are definitely shoot. They are as bad as I've seen on a coach before.

I didn't look underneath while it was in the mountains. I won't have a chance until Saturday to actually take a look.

I'll probably need to find some bio suits to actually check out the inside! The rodent/urine smell was overwhelming.
