skin material of Argosy motorhomes....

Excuse my ignorance, but could someone tell me what material the skin was made of of these motorhomes? THe reason for asking is that I understand that the Argosy trailers were part steel part aluminium and I have always presumed the argosy motorhomes to have been as well. However I just saw a picture of a 75 argosy which was stripped and turned into a high gloss airstream look alike..... had 100% aluminium skin under the paint....

thx

Wiebe

You can do a search and study the development and history of Airstream and Argosy !

You will enjoy some of the Manufacturing films on Youtube also shot at the Jackson Center Plant

Argosy trailers, were "ALL" aluminum, except for the front and rear caps.

Those caps were galvanized steel.

When owners polish an Argosy trailer, they paint the front and rear caps with a metallic silver paint.

Quite often the Argosies were clad with aluminum that was discolored and would not polish out, so they were used where they could be painted.
