Rosie..the 20' 1977 "Airstream" Makeover..(Ruby)

We flew out to Louisiana to meet Ruby April 10th.

We were so excited!! Then we took her for a spin.. I was in the co-pilot seat.
"This is so cool", I said.
Until my new"ish" Red Frye Boot started to burn---yup, .from the antifreeze

We purchased her anyway, the PO mechanic bypassed the core, and said he wouldn't be able to get a new core "that day"....

I'm a "researcher" I'll find one, I told my husband..

We had no plan really, I've been searching for a 20' MH for a while..
We've never driven one, we've only camped in tents... Then The Marriott...

The opportunity arose, we took the time off from work and we bought (2) one-way tickets. "Can she make the trip back to Boston??" We were told "YES"

...............man, how next time I would do things different...next time?!?!

The 20 foot Argosy's are great, if you can fit all your family & needs in one.
When you have to let them go because you dont fit in them any more, and there is no room for more than one motorhome in the yard, you feel like you lost a good friend. I check up on the folks who bought my Yelo Sub every year and I ask how it is doing.
Make it a part of your family and take good care of it, but be creative and dont go broke doing it
I think I miss the needle point on the curtains over my window the most.

Yes, this is so true.. AND, I might add, you, as my other “wingman”, helped to keep me sane throughout her journey home... #MrMiagi

Ha!

Making it home on your maiden voyage is quite often the same as a small miracle occurring.

Generally when someone is ready to sell one of these it's because they are tired of working on it or can't afford too. Either way that generally means maintenance has been neglected. The new owners then have the pleasure of seeing just how much neglect has taken place.

Manouch is sharp and should have things back in useable condition before you know it.

OR They don’t have the TIME OR PATIENCE to figure out WHAT part is needed, WHERE to get the part, AND HOW to install the part?!?! It’s so frustrating!! If it was up to me, I’d buy all new!!

My husband is smart and patient..I know he loves to figure out the mechanisms etc.

Yesterday he went to the junk yard, came home with a heater dash from a vintage Plymouth...

I need to update this “story”....

I should add that Martin300662 had helped me in making my decision to buy “Ruby”.. he had replied on a fb post where someone had uploaded the video of her when she was up for sale.
The interested party had asked if she was worth the $$$, as he knew prices of bigger MH he was unsure of the 20’ “worth”.. (I’ll see if I can find his answer at another time.).
I sent him a message and we have been corresponding ever since.
One more important fact, I have other interests for the tough girl, I love the retro look and needed something I could drive.. this began my 2 year search....

Hmmm...sounds like I am being implicated!

I have to say several of my friends have got in trouble with their other halves, who claim I am a bad influence on them!

Live your dreams, and worry only about things you can influence - the rest is going to happen anyway!

I'd say you're guilty as charged!
