Rear Pinion Yoke
Hi guys, in big trouble again, rear uj exploded last weekend resulting in a tow home behind wifes car ( Hyundai Santa FE ) which was well up to the job, I have sourced a new uj but have tried in vain to get the right striups to fit,( 2 parcels from Rock Auto ) but have now found out that the pinion yoke is also trashed, so my question is where do I get a new one from ( no one seems to list it ) or does anyone have a good used one just hanging around.
Thanks
Phil
PS will still try phoning around the UK parts people, never know your luck.

Phil,
To help in your search be search and mention that the differential is a GM 14 bolt 10.5" unit.
As far as the bolts and retainer straps go I have a spare used set but they are relatively easy to find on ebay as are the bolts.

Martin, that yoke sure does look like it's the correct one.
Phil, before removing the yoke make sure you scribe a line or in some way mark the end of the pinion shaft, the nut and the yoke so when they are put back together all of the marks line up.
What you don't want to do is over torque the nut holding the yoke on. The correct procedure is described in the service manual. If you don't have a copy I can try and post an image of the page.
Brad

Thanks Martin that does indeed look like the one , I have one coming but in the meantime am trying DB Motors at Husbands Bosworth the guy there is almost certain that he has one.
Thanks for the advice Brad allready marked up, I do not have a manual but in a previous life I was a mechanic ( not a lot of call round here for an out of work Chieftain Tank mechanic ), any advice is well used ( & needed )
Heres to a lucky find
Phil

Hi all, back on the road again ( hooray ), the pinion nut was a bit of a sod to get undone, had a bottle jack on the yoke then a trolly jack on the end of the ratchet, that did the trick, then I had a puller made for the yoke but it still took a good few blows with a big ammer to get it off, all this was this morning in the rain on my front drive, with the rear of the Argosy on ramps, not a lot of fun, but isn't this why we all join up in the first place ?. So now we can move again on to the next project -- curtains

That's great news Phil.
When is your next show? I am stuck in the middle of back to back to back business trips around Europe ( for example got back from Graz, Austria yesterday, heading Dresden Germany today, then Brussels on Tuesday). But hope to be able to meet up soon!
