Pimp (photoshop) my Argosy 20!

Here is your chance to paint (via Photoshop) my Argosy 20 motorhome! I am taking him in for painting in August (2012). The interior is the original orange. We have added brown, apple green, tan, and blue on the inside. While the pictures look white, he really is a tan color. I also have 200' of the orange rub rail to install after painting.

My options are:
1) Paint the original colors but with some flowered graphics around (similar to the fabric sample)
2) Paint it white with more contemporary swooshes
3) Paint it some other radical design.

I have ruled out painting it silver (faux Airstream) and stripping off all of the paint (bare aluminum).

My wife and I are undecided which way to go. The original tan looks dated and our concern is that even a fresh tan would look old. We thought painting on the 70's flowers would liven up the exterior and fill in blank spaces.

I am also going to order stainless steel hubcaps for the wheels.

You have a classic, keep it original. A fresh paint job will do wonders. Sounds like you are keeping the interior original.

We could just go original with a Dharma Initiative logo on the side and wear a tan jumpsuits!

Yes, the inside is original. We are leaning towards all original with the added splash of the flowers in some pattern.

Fred,

I am a fan of a whiter color, I was thinking a pearl white... I am actually going to remove all the upper rub rail on mine and fill the holes with Olympics before I repaint. Makes it look much newer. Also a tip, the rub rail in orange only holds up for 2-3 years before it fades to a pale orange. I replaced all mine with black years ago, still going strong. If you take all the rub rail off, you can then decide if you want an accent stripe or big swoopy multi colored sections and the rub rail will not be a defining line. Keep the color light, or that AC will never be able to make it cool inside.

I kinda like the original Tan color, but it could be spruced up a little, maybe with a Tag Axle and some flames

price?

What does it cost ballpark to have an Argosy HM painted? I may need to have mine painted, or I may polish it. (minus the caps)

I have an estimate of $4,500 to $5,500 for a professional job with someone experienced in painting Argosy units. You could probably find someone cheaper but cost and quality usually go together. A 28' unit might be slightly more.

You also have to make sure they paint the bumper skirt and also clean up the front grill area.

I have not seen good results with stripping them bare. I prefer the Argosy units painted.

You said you have 200' of the orange rail. Where did you get this? I have been contemplating doing a new paint job on ours, and am bummed that we don't have the orange rail...
