Thats what friends are for... In retrospect, I think I made a good choice when I turned left in Bowling green, KY last week

Well in my case I show up (like a bad penny) at Brad's place with the intention to make a plan so to what still needs doing to Peanut.
|
Would that be an English penny or an American Penny?
There were a couple of minutes where things got rather interesting with lots of smoke involved. Fortunately it turned out to be user error and was easily remedied.
I got the electric pump installed and plumbed in now I just need to figure out how I want to do the wiring install. Assuming you want to eliminate the mechanical pump (I would) a blanking plate will need to be installed and then something will need to be done to deal with the fuel return line.
After doing some research a bypass pressure regulator can be installed. We can deal with that once I get Peanut moved down to the shop.
I should have the wiring done later this week and will move him then.

Just about done with the fuel pump install. Pump is installed and plumbed and all of the wiring is done with the exception of connecting the ignition signal to the new fuel pump relay. Once I figure out which spot to connect the relay coil to I'll have that done as well.
The self tapping screw Martin alluded too is shown in the photo below.
Interestingly enough while running the power wire for the fuel pump I ran across another one of those connections! I traced the wire down and found that it was no longer in use so I removed it. One less thing to worry about

A brilliant way to get off the side of road, not so much as a long term solution. The lack of a visible fuse is concerning

I'm happy to report Peanut made it down to the shop this afternoon.
Need to take care of a few small projects to get him road worthy so Martin can get him transported to the nearest port for shipment to the UK.

Old fantastic fan is off. I need to clean up the shell opening a little bit. The PO didn't clean things up to well when they removed the original Airstream vent before they installed the fan. What was interesting is the only seal was a foam gasket, no Vulkem or anything else. That makes me wonder if the gasket might have been the source of some ceiling leaks.

Peanut's roof was painted with Henry's in the fall of 2019. It's amazing what 2-1/2 years of tree pollen here in Kentucky looks like. The front vent mounting flange is now installed but I do need to seal around the edges with Trempro before setting the fan in place.
I was a little concerned that I might have to modify the AC opening to get the flange for the fan to fit but for once I got lucky and it seems to fit just fine. Sometime this week I'll install the flange.

I don't think it is luck Brad.
You did such a good job of the previous AC install that it's replacement fits perfectly.

Looking great Brad.
Does the roof-line look cleaner without the 'AWACS' on the roof?

I find myself suffering from workspace envy. And… your workshop is outshined by your craftsmanship. Peanut is taking shape.

Peanut could be heading your way soon Luis.
I work in Lexington/Bedford one week per month so considering bring him up to live in/work on, whilst I'm there.
If you know of anywhere local where I could store when I'm not there, I'm all ears!
We are due to swap with Peanut coming to UK, and Bella coming back to US, but currently shipping is around 3x pre-pandemic prices so that is going to wait a while.

Will keep my ears open for you. Storage wherever real estate is expensive, is frequently an added complication.
I can relate - to a degree. Sounds like you’re storage and travel needs are more involved than mine.
Besides the Onion (a 345), we have two cars. Our driveway will only accept two of the three. Any two; just not three. When the Onion is home, we leave one of the cars on the street. Can’t do that during the winter because of plowing, so the Onion is stored offsite.
Let me know when you’ll be in town. Maybe we could get together sometime and brainstorm storage and workspace options.

Seems availability is the biggest challenge Luis.
I currently have two options, neither ideal. One is at the Toy Storage place in Hingham where I used to live (and stored my motorbike, so I am an existing/lapsed customer) or at a place in Hudson (its a franchised storage place but I had Bella stored at another location in NJ for a while, so again I have an account).
The company I work for has a large car park and have given permission to park there whilst I am on-site, its the other three weeks a month that is the challenge.

Just about done with the fuel system upgrade. Just need to finish the hose/tubing from the regulator to the carburetor and then fab and install a metal shield to protect the fuel system components from road debris.

The long hose that is hanging down is going to be rerouted so it's not quite so vulnerable.
