Question New paint on flexible roof

Last summer I was on the roof of my Argosy mh replacing the air conditioner. I was surprised at how flexible the roof is.

Has anyone ever painted their roof and then walked on it? Does the paint crack? Do you have to use a particular kind of paint that can handle the flexibility of the aluminum?

Thanks for the link. That was a very interesting thread. Now I have more to think about.

I did some searches for images of stuff painted with Kool Seal. It's not pretty. But it is not intended to be I guess. It's neat that it reflects 90% of suns heat, is mildew resistant, elastomeric, and all of its other properties. But I can't imagine someone painting their Argosy aluminum roof with such a matte finish rubbery product.

My roof doesn't leak a drop and it appears to have the original paint on it still. It also appears to be the same paint that is on the sides.

Always walk on the seams so as not to oil can your roof.

I used Interlux Brightsides marine paint on my roof. The bright white made a difference and has stood the test of time well. Using brushing thinners and a high quality brush will allow you to apply a finish that most folks will be hard pressed to believe is not sprayed on.

I have quite a bit of experience using Interlux Brightside on boats. If I were to paint my rv myself, I would use Brightside.

The pro who is painting my rv consulted with the paint supplier and has determined there is an additive for the paint to make it more flexible.

Also, I found elsewhere on this forum a link to this webpage which shows that my rv was painted with Dupont Centari paint.
