Need to figure out a price to sell Argosy

We have a 1987 Argosy squarestream 33', in pretty good condition though not perfect; double bed, original interior, everything works, new furnace and ceiling fan, stereo works, very large awning (estimate 25') but slightly damaged, electric brakes, aluminum roof but fiberglass body. Oak cabinetry, good large fridge, one small cracked windowpane in back, needs new rubber around shutters. We are second owners and never towed it - got it as a temporary living space for mom, so it has been parked with weight off tires for about 3 years. We have no idea what to ask for this unit. Any advice?

tworavens, you posted this in the Motorhomes Argosy section. You might get more responses if you posted this somewhere in the Trailer section

Good luck with you sale!

Brad

sorry, posted in wrong forum

Sorry for posting in the wrong place.... but as I look in the Trailer section, I don't see any subforums that seem appropriate... suggestions? I obviously do not know my way around here....

This is the link to the Argosy trailers....getting the right forum is key as many folks only look in the sub-section of interest.

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f227/

Its key, as you want input from experienced Argosy owners and if you don't hunt them down you will get replies.....but like most things on the Internet, everyone has an opinion, not all opinions can be correct!

My impression is there are not too many 33' Argosy square streams around. My guess is at the same time this can increase the value but limit the market. If this was badged as an Airstream my guess is it would be, in good condition, be worth 15 to 20K. Badged as an Argosy might make it harder to sell. Also long Airstreams are generally harder to sell than short ones. Being a 33 and a square stream may be an exception because there are less of them and they are not made anymore. Just a semi-educated guess however. You might want to contact a professional appraiser like James Polk. Last I heard he was in Ojai, California (805) 585 4067. It will cost you about $500 bucks +/- but will strengthen your selling position.

Valuing an Argosy

My answer: As a non expert, but one who has read the offerings on this platform daily for five years my guess would be 7 to 10k.
