Now I'm thinking 3cm would be better as it would be stronger; or I should stick with the 2cm thickness but install a 1/2" timber 'top' to the cabinets and the counter would stick to that with flexible sealant?
I have left it with Bob the carpenter to mull over and see what he comes up with.
Yes, it came with a strong running 350, which according to the previous title (and previous 2 owners) only has a genuine 8500miles on it (at least that's what is showing on the odometer). All the belts are being changed to serpentine (and they are modernizing the A/C), all new wiring, new hoses and all external gaskets and the radiator is being re-cored (it isn't leaking but I don't want to take the risk and it is out anyway). I have the (good) 454 from the donor that could have been used, but we have taken a lot of weight out of the original Argosy (generator, roof A/C, cabinetry, bathroom, etc etc), and we are effectively gearing up slightly with larger wheels and tires, so we decided to stay with the 350 (plus it was estimated as a two week job to swap). Once we are up and running I may get it 'warmed up' slightly......just don't want to have to add wheelie bars to keep the nose on the ground!

I did consider it as an alternate to my donor Argosy when it was up for sale a couple of months ago. If it had the Vista View windows I needed, I would have tried to buy it just to 'put it out of it's misery', poor thing.

Opps forgot to post a photo of the new wheel in place....
Same diameter, slightly thicker, so easier for me to grip; you simply pull a sprung loaded pin to allow the wheel to be removed. For anyone looking to do the same it is a Grant Classic 677 wheel and 3011 disconnect (which has a GM spline so bolts onto the column).

So today's dose of frustration comes thanks the the good folks at ClimateRight. The Airstream guys have built the 'shell', moved the access door and were working on the sliding tray to house the CR5000 AC and heat unit, only to find out that there were not enough units in the last shipment to supply outstanding orders, and now ClimateRight are moving factories and the next shipment wont be until April 2015 at the earliest.....same applies to the smaller CR2500, and as for the 'soon to be announced' CR12000, well the announcement wont be made until 2015 so who knows when (if) they will ever be available.
Anyone got a CR5000 they bought but haven't installed yet but want to make a premium on?

What a bummer. I'm assuming you have googled it to see if anyone has one in stock?

Apparently they misjudged demand caused by an 'appearance' on Good Morning America, and Camping World having them on offer.
Anyone else I have found that had them listed, simply linked to the supplier if you try and order, so obviously didn't hold stock, and Midwest Equipment Sales (the supplier) have checked and no-one they supply to has one.
Looks like that part of the rebuild is now officially 'on hold'.

Well today the target of my frustration is 'Craigslist', and I am starting to wonder if I have angered Tony's Airstream Gods, because they are (I am sure) deliberately taunting me.
No sooner do I get the news that the A/C unit is not available, but a 'used' one shows up on Craigslist less than 100miles away. Hurrah, I here you shout, except the listing is only contactable by email....and everyone knows the Craigslist email contact system sucks - why could the guy not have listed a phone number so I could offer him whatever he wants as long as the rebuild can keep on track!!!!!
