Seems I need the same type as used in a 75-78 L82 (350) Chevy and of course none of the supply houses have one.

I don't want to get your hopes up but I know I've seen one of those or one similar to it in my parts boxes. The real test will be trying to find it

Stay tuned.....

I'll take anything you have (even similar), Brad.

Thanks!

Well one way or another I think we got you covered

The following four pictures show what I have available. It came from an 86 345 with a 454 engine. The fourth picture shows an adapter plate that is bolted to the main bracket. It was probably for the cruise control cable.

Here's the one that is hanging from my Argosy throttle cable. If push came to shove and nothing else would work I would probably let this one go.

Here is the one I installed on the Edelbrock 1406 carburetor on my 454. The motor is currently sitting on the test stand that I built.

And last but not least here are a few that I found on ebay that would likely work as well.

73-86 chevy big block throttle cable bracket

73-86 chevy small block throttle cable bracket

73-86 chevy small block throttle cable bracket

If you want the one from the 345 I could probably get it in the mail tomorrow.

Let me know if I can help out.

Brad

Thanks Brad.

With the original mia I think the best approach is for me to buy one of the two small block brackets on eBay. They look very similar to the big block link and the one you have still installed so maybe the any of them will need some gentle fettling.

From looking at the three that I have there really doesn't seem to be much difference between them. They all have the important part which is the correct hole for the cable.

Let me know if the one you buy doesn't work and I will ship you the one from the 345.

Brad

Brad, about 3 hours after I ordered one of the 3 that you sent in the links, I get a (very apologetic) email from Dick, who woke up at 3am worrying about the darn bracket, only to find it where he had left it to dry after bead blasting and painting....so now I have two expected in the mail tomorrow.

What's that saying...all's well, that ends well?

Martin, look at it this way. If you hadn't bought the one off of ebay then your original one likely wouldn't have shown up and you'd still be looking for one

I would be interested in knowing what the differences are between the one you bought and your original one. If you have the opportunity could you post pictures of the two?

Brad

It appears the only difference between the two is the original did not have a locating pin, but instead had a hole (maybe the pink was previous punched out). Black one is the original (bead blasted and painted by Dick), the rusty one is the one from Ebay (actually it is the Ebay photos as it hasn't arrived yet!)

Tonight I'll compare your original 350 bracket to the one that came on my Argosy and then I'll compare it to the one on my new engine. Be interesting to see if there really is a difference between big block and small block.

Just back from a decent length test drive on the Dick Paterson rebuilt carb.....what a difference. Drive along at the 45 limit on a local road, limit changed and the pick-up and pull through to highway speed was great.

Holding good water temp on the re-cored radiator and the mystery of the fuel tank not taking any more fuel is solved - according to the now working gauge I can see the tank is full!

Still some teething problems like the oil pressure gauge isn't working (it was during the last run so I suspect they have fitted the printed circuit and gauges from Brad's cluster (but my speedo), so hopefully just a case of swapping mine back in).

Basically we are ready to camp now and I will drop the mattresses/bedding in tomorrow.

Certainly seems to be grabbing attention, and we had one guy pull along side us at a set of lights pull out his camera and start taking photos....we both obliged with out best 'smile and wave'.

Yes it will go into 'body and paint' either at the end of this season or more probably early next year.

Some of that depends scheduling; current 'plan' is to join the local NEU caravan to Florida in October but then leave Bella somewhere south for the winter (probably along with my better half and our dog to avoid the New England winter)....we are looking at RV resorts along the gulf costs but want one where we can also have a fixed structure as well as the parking spot.

I will 'commute' down at the weekends, and we can still camp all winter.

When we bring her back up depends on weather but hopefully we can find a window in March where weather is good enough and we can drive back and get the paint (probably Chevy Willow Green or something similar) and any service needed for the new season.

Well that's the plan anyway!

Hi Peter

No blinds on the VistaViews but we are going to add GILA Platinum heat reflective coating ( GILA Heat Control Window Film ). Suppose to reflect 70% of the heat with minimal drop in transparency.

All the ones in the living area are single pane, but the one in the wetroom is a double pane so needs converting to single (the gasket arrived from Can-Am this week) before adding the film.

All the regular sliders and panos have blinds or blackouts.

Martin,
If the wind blows you as far as Texas, consider yourself a welcome guest at my place in Austin. I do have hookup with 30 amp, sewer and water in a private spot on my property (away from where all the work on my Airstreams is happening )

Be careful what you offer Peter, one day you may wake up to a family of strays sitting on your doorstep. Seriously though, many tanks for the offer.
