So......it appears the dash wiring issue is the main PCB is delaminating. Trouble is, it is in such bad condition that the guys can't read the part number.

Classic Auto Industries have most available and it looks like this board (8905934 | 73-75 CHEVY PRINTED CIRCUIT WITH WARNING LIGHT )

Anyone know if this is the right part number?

I really like the simple rectangular OEM instrument cluster so hope it can be repaired rather than having to replace.

Martin,

I have the dash out of my 74 Argosy that you can have. I'm building a whole new dash assembly with gauges and have no plans to use the original dash. I don't know if it's in usable condition but it might be worth a try.

Brad

Thanks for the offer Brad.

Unless someone else chips in I think I will order one to try. If that doesn't work I will take you up on the offer, just let me know want you want for it.

Martin, I'm betting the PCB you have pictured is the correct replacement piece. If it doesn't work out let me know and I'll get my old one shipped out to you, no charge.

Hot of the press......just got a call to say the techs are heading out for a first road test!

Well actually it was a call asking for more money, and the sweetener was the news they are heading out, but I will take any success I can take at the moment.

The shop manager is claiming the issue was a bad connection, and they managed to clean up and repair the track and is happy that was the best approach.....so whats wrong with this picture?

"A tech spending 4 days @ $120/hr to fix a $70 part"

No wonder the cost of the remodel has doubled!

I had to break down and take my 310 into my local sound and vision electrical guru to have some electrical gremlins hunted down and executed and an Alpine stereo system put in with subs and all the good stuff. I know I'm probably going to have heart palpitation at the cost so I can't imagine for one instant what you have spent.

All I can say is I really hope you like it a lot.......

Cheers
Tony

If we don't like it then it would be our own fault Tony, as the guys have built exactly what we asked for, so no issues there; and we expected to spend money going into the remodel.

My gripe with the shop manger at Airstream NE is he doesn't understand the difference between spending money and wasting money, having the guys spend days trying to salvage and re-use parts that are available new for little cost.

Likely, my better half is a calming influence......

Well, it will still look like a dogs dinner on the outside, but the next rally we aiming for is Lake Pemaquid; are you going?
