Thanks! Yes, it’s a 1966 Chevy II. 55,000 original miles. 327ci, powerglide transmission, positraction rearend. I’ve had it for about 20 years. It has always been garaged.

It’s my favorite car. However I’m pretty much a car nut. I’ve had a few MKIV Supra turbo cars. I like almost anything with an engine I guess.

Just scored a very lightly used Hartwell door latch for my coach on eBay. Can’t believe I actually found one. Click image for larger version

I was wondering if someone on Airforums bought it

The Hartwell's show up less frequently than the Keeler latches do, possibly once a year or so. Oddly enough there's another one on ebay right now

Hartwell latch

I have been doing some work projects with a company in Belgium that is 3D printing in aluminium. It’s pretty impressive as some complex structures can be printed.

That sounds pretty cool. I wonder how strong and durable the components are compared to something that is CNC’d out of aircraft aluminum?

The printers that Wayne has and I've ordered are supposed to be capable of doing brassfill and bronzefill. I hope to actually try one or both of those someday. I'm pretty sure that day is a LONG way's out though!

Can you post a picture of one of the aluminum prints?

The parts are actually impellers for powder feeders so need to be functional - the original impellers had too high a volumeteric sweep (ie moved too much powder) so I came up with a design to reduce the sweep volume. I should have taken some photos before I install them last week but I forgot/was in too big a rush. They have been using them continually since then with no issues and I got back out next week to see how they are holding up.

Because these are in a pharmaceutical production line I will have to replace with the same machined from 316SS (so far the 3D printers can only print in SS17-4PH) but it was a great way to test the concept worked.

These are the guys who made the parts (https://www.melotte.be/en/product-ty...metal-printing)

PS don't ask the cost, you don't want to know!...but they are at the heart of a $12M installation so I wasn't cutting corners!

Yep, cutting corners is usually a bad idea!

I find it amazing that 3D printers even work let alone create the parts that are being printed now. It will be interesting to see where the technology is 10 years from now.

I know laser sintered titanium parts are gaining traction, the strength is up there with traditionally machined, or better depending on the application

promises of reduced costs in the aerospace industry, and a lot of attention in the biomedical field because it's biocompatible and bone can grow inside a titanium mesh implant and integrate with fantastic strength

a couple overviews

Hi Courtney, welcome to the forum.

There really simply aren't that many 20ft left, and it is very typical for folks to search for 2-3 years to find one, so don't get disheartened. The issue is they weren't popular when they were made (only 3 years of production, then stopped, whilst the longer motorhomes carried on for (nearly) the next 20 years) so very very rare now.

I am sure Brad is the same, but I have been monitoring all on-line sales (eBay, Craigslist, etc) for about the last 10 years and less 4 per year change hands, typically only 1-2 per year.

There is no 'magic bullet' to finding one, and if not in routine use it will take a huge amount of money/effort or money+effort, to get it back on the road (starting with a significant bill to get it trailer-ed home - they are over 10ft high so you have to get a low-boy type trailer), and because they are so rare when one comes up that is in routine use, you can almost name your price.

Thanks! If I see any others pop up I will keep you in mind. I was very lucky to find mine within 20 min from where I live.
