Hello

My name is Sam, I am 22 and I just purchased not only my first vehicle but a 1977(78?) Argosy Motorhome for $1500!
I plan on doing quite a bit of work on her but unfortunately I won't be able to for a couple months (I have to finish up school and the MH is parked back at home). Well, I just wanted to introduce myself and will bump this thread in the coming months as I begin on the project. I plan to strip/re-paint the exterior and convert part of the interior into a painting studio. I then plan to hit the road and cover the US! Tell me what you think did I make out well with the price?
The engine is relatively new (bought the MH from a mechanic) the tranny is re-built and it was generally taken care of pretty well.

Thanks!

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

Welcome to the Forums, Sam. We're glad to have you with us.

You are about the youngest Airstreamer that I am aware of. It looks like you have some serious work to do on the old girl, but you can find the information that you will need here on the Forums.

Brian

Hello, thanks for the welcome. I am young, but an old soul. I am rather new to mechanics so I have a ton to learn in the upcoming months but I'm a total sponge. I must say I've always been in love with airstreams and couldn't pass this deal up so starts my adventure haha. I'm excited about the large base of information the site has to offer and it's users seem super knowledgeable

Welcome to airforum.com, young Sam!

Whoa, that's a LOT of moho for $1,500!! Congrats!

I'm gonna guess that the water heater has already been replaced. That one's not nearly rusty enough for a '77.

Have fun with it come summer, but concentrate on school right now!

$1500? oh yea you scored alright!

Now learning all about it is the fun. Buy some nice sturdy work gloves to protect your hands and dive in to every repair job. You'll be an expert in no time.

You'll obviously find what you need as far as information right here. You'll also find some new older, wiser friends along the way as you continue to post here.

Now, just one question... is the ladder for getting up or down?

Some of us are just wisecrackers.......

Good idea! I turned mine into a studio too (I make art - Art, Fine Crafts, and More | Matt Thomas Designs). It is my favorite hangout. I'll try to remember to take some photos of the interior. I basically put in 8 feet of cabinets across from the kitchen where one of the couches used to be.

Enjoy the Ride

Sam,
Good buy. I bought a 24' last fall for over 2x that $. I am in the middle of "sprucing it up" now to be ready for spring adventures. (Painting to look like a Buckeye tailgating MH, Making custom counter tops, replacing dinette with a sofa futon, recovering the walls, new Pergo floors- love those-, making new custom curtains, adding TV's, just a few little things) It is a challenge and a thrill to learn by doing. I too have learned much from these forums. There are lots of great ideas and advice.
Mine's not a studio, but my wife calls it my man cave. (Since I mounted my 32" LCD TV in it, she pretty well knows where to look for me if I'm not in the house!)
Enjoy the experience.
