If the schlegal channel is worn out, or old age, there is no fix, other than replacement.

Andy's got it right. With the age of your Argosy you will have to replace all the seals and tracks in your windows.

This is a project on both of our motorhomes I've got to do this summer as well. Not looking forward to it but its got to be done.

Inland RV has all the parts you'll need for the repairs.

I've got a 28' Argosy that had really hard to open the windows. The weatherstripping and the tracks are severly worn, but I was able to get the windows to open relatively easy by cleaning the tracks with a stiff, horsehair brush (shoe shine brush) and then spraying silicone in it. It's not a perfect solution, but it works for the short term.

Your describing aged out Schlegal channel, which is the fuzzy material's name.

Replacing it along with the gray gaskets, will fix the coach up for another 20 years or so.

There is however, a little technique that is used in order to install the fuzzy material, correctly.

After installation, a yearly dose of silicone spray, does wonders.
