Dashboard for 1977 Argosy MH
The dashboard in the 77Argosy has pulled away from its mountings.
Most likely cause is the deteriorated plastic, caused by being left in one place for 12 years by the previous owners.
Regardless of the reason, I need to replace the dashboard.
Any suggestions?
I have heard
1. Wood
2. Metal with cutouts created by a computer operated mill.
3. Duct tape (not the most attractive or long term solution.
I would really appreciate any suggestions or direction
Thank you

What about finding a junker somewhere and just buying a new (to you) dash? One other option since the Argosy's are on truck chassis, what's the chance that the dash from a similar era truck might work here? Just a few thoughts.. Keep us posted..

Thank you Rick F, good advice.
My first thought was just that; find an old Argosy junker. Unfortunately, the only one I could find had the fire start in the front, thereby destroying the dash.
However, I will look around at old truck dashboards and see if that works.

shepherd57, I don't need any instruments, only the actual dash itself. I have all the instruments.

Here is a picture of the dash it is still a bit wet from washing off the dirt. It will probably have to be painted it is in good condition. It has a small crack on the right side below the air vent but I can repair that easily I can take more pics if you want.
This motor home hasn't run for about 20years

sheperd57, thanks for the photos. I now realize I was not completely accurate in my discription. I have the instruments, but the actual faceplate that holds them has deteriorated.
I will probably have to create something.
Again, thank you for your trouble and for pointing me in the more appropriate description of what I need.

That looks like the one .My Argosy only had part of it when I got it . I would need the whole grill. let me know what you want for it and we can figure out shipping.
Thank you for the time and effort.

I will have a look this weekend and see what is involved to remove it. Shipping might be costly it would be a pretty big box

Thanks,
I realize the shipping will be expensive I am hoping not to much. After the holidays I will check with the local ups and see if they will give a price just from the dimensions.Silly me I can go online and get a shipping quote.I will need more of your info so I will pm you.
I don't think it will be very heavy.Do you? Am guessing 60 lbs.
Also would you happen to have a pic of the original water heater door?
Jo

grill
To remove the grill on my 76 I had to drill 100+ rivets, pull the bumper, unscrew the wheel molding.. It took 2 days..
Actually, I was trying to get at the power steering pump.. WORST.

Hi Sheprherd57,
By chance do you still have that 77 Argosy dash? I'm looking to replace the dash and instrument panel on my 78 Argosy RV.
Thanks,
Chloé

Many years ago I needed to replace the dash heater switch on my classic. This simple project ended up with me replacing the entire dash. I built it out of oak and it took a winter and half my bank account. I recently heard from the present owner and the dash is still there. If you do a search the whole story is available on the forum. Good luck to you.
