Brake Line Pins for '77 Argosy

Hello, everyone!

My 1977 Argosy has been at the shop for around 6 months now. The mechanic is trying to install new brake lines, but says he is held up because he can not find the right brake line pins anywhere (he can't even figure out what size they need to be).

I'm tired of waiting, and we have a cook-off to attend in May, so I told the mechanic I would turn to my trusty, knowledgeable and helpful friends in this forum for ideas on where we can find the pins.

I am not a mechanic, nor am I the least bit mechanically informed/educated. So I hope what I've said makes sense, and that someone can help me.
(The mechanic also says the RV's rear end needs to be rebuilt, but he's afraid to touch it. Any suggestions for a shop in the Houston area that can address this would be greatly appreciated).

Argosy motorhomes were built on Chev P-30 chassis and so any engine, transmission, brake and rear end parts should be very standard issue and available from GM and GM truck dealers. The chassis VIN number should be all you need to get the correct parts. I think you need a different mechanic.

What is a brake line pin? Worked around cars and trucks for 50 years and never heard of a brake line pin.

Hi, maybe he means caliper pins? I haven't had my P-30 for about 20 years now. I worked at new car dealers as a mechanic since 1968 [now retired] and never heard of a brake line pin.

He just said "pins," and they were for the brake line job, so I just put the two together. If caliper pins make sense, then that's probably what he's talking about. I wish I understood more about it. It just mystifies me that the mechanic is so helpless. I think you guys are right. I need a new mechanic--fast.

I just re-did all of the brakes on my 76 Argosy within the past month and had no need for new pins. Your rig might be in slightly different condition than mine but I just cleaned the caliper 'pins' off and applied new lubricant. For my rears, which were in excellent shape, I just blasted the dust out and replaced one wheel cylinder. Those P30 chasis were built really well so a lot of the stuff can be reused as long as its not worn and its cleaned really well.
