The reason I asked is it sorta looks like the hook is a one piece unit. If you can flip it then it must be a separate spacer that makes the hook stand off the hatch.

that would be true. But I looked at a another hook I have and it looks different and could only be used on the left, unless you would latch it from the bottom on the right. No telling where I got the hooks i used in 2002

Hey Ben, just a heads-up; I haven't mailed the cover as yet because it has a lockable latch, and I don't have the key!

I assumed it was the same as the other lower compartment covers (which are now installed on Bella), but my key for Bella's covers doesn't work on that latch. ASNE are searching at their end to see if there is a second key somewhere - may take a few days.

I would imagine the key from your donor cover is the same as the cover that was on Ben's coach. I found the keys for the rectangular twist handles on the compartments of the 84 310 and the 86 345 were the same.

If Ben has his old key I bet it will work

Martin, I never thought of that! I'm in absolutely no rush on the cover. I"m currently working on the steering, so the motorhome isn't going anywhere for at least a month or two.
No worries even in the key can't be found. I can source out another fastening device if needed. Though I certainly appreciate the shop doing a sweep for an extra key!

edit: Brad, I've got a host of keys for my Argo. We could be in business here with a little luck.

I am a little surprised as the same latch is on the donor lower compartment covers, so I thought would be the same key. The latch actually works fine, just without the key is not able to be locked closed.

ASNE moved two of the lower compartment covers from the donor to Bella - one covers the propane so can not be lockable (for safety reasons), the other covers the batteries so can be locked (and includes a cubbie for the Zamp extension cable, etc so I am glad it does!)

The lower compartment keys for the 310 & 345 were not the same as the generator compartment covers. I never did check the two generator locks to see if they were the same as I never locked the generator cover. Since it was hinged I saw no need to lock it.

Going back few pages there was a discussion about replacement engines and transmissions. I suggested state and local government auctions for old school buses. I just noticed this one.

OWNING AGENCY STATES :

Cummins 6BTA 180 HP engine - (replaced 3/21/06 at 170,462 miles, 23,708 miles on this engine) No Known Issues

Allison AT 545 transmission - Automatic (replaced 5/6/02 at 150,595 miles, 43,575 miles on this transmission), No Known Issues
No known Issues
No oil, coolant or diesel leaks.
Interior is average or above (no tears in seats)
Front Tires 15/32 (Spare 6/32)
Rear Tires 9/32
BUDD wheels
2 Additional Rims

Being sold because depreciation schedule is complete.
There is about 17 hours left on the auction and the bid is $1875. It would make nice low mileage transplant. You do have to have room for the bus while you are removing the engine and trans.
