PS Martin, you might want to kick in a little extra for Gatorade or some electrolyte replacement for Ernie as it hit almost 40C (100+) with the humidity up here in SW Ontario; so I hate to think what it was in Kentucky.
Surprisingly enough it's not been that bad. Mid 80s with 80-95% humidity.

Sure, I'd like to add it to my list. The vin number you provided is the GM chassis vin. What I've been keeping track of is the Airstream/Argosy supplied vin number. You should be able to find it on the left had post under the front engine cover. The number would look something like this M26T5Sxxxx. With xxxx being the Argosy sequence number. The S could also be a V.

You should start a new thread with pictures of your Argosy and tell us all about it

Brad

Vin#

Sorry, that just goes to show you how ignorant I am, looking forward to the adventure. I am in MN right now, I will get you the correct vin# when I get home next week. It is looking pretty sad right now, too cold to do anything but tear it apart. She has a spa day scheduled with the mechanic for the works as soon as I get back home.

Question: The title say Argosy Limo. What does that mean? Thanks

Not ignorant, just not knowledgeable on these old rigs!

Some Argosies were sold for use as buses, etc. If yours was sold as a bus or something similar the title might have been noted as such. Do you know if your's was always a motorhome?

I don’t think so. I have all the paperwork (including all the owners and appliance manuals)back to original buyer, and it has the original decor and appliances and only 75k on the engine. I think I am the 4 th owner and owner number three bought it in 16 and didn’t do anything with it, his wife didn’t want to wait to go camping. Youngsters, they are the ones with all the time ⏰

Just FYI....

M=motorhome
26 = 26ft model
T = rear bath/twin
5 = 1975
S = Made in Cerritos, Ca
5203 = is the sequential serial number

Thank you,
It does have the bath in the center though. Any significance that the s is lowercase and the T a capital?

In my experience the letters are all capitals, but honestly Airstream were making things up as they went along with the pre-1977 units so I am not surprised they aren't following their own 'rules'.

This is the VIN decoder from Airstream.

Curiouser and curiouser, definitely not accurate as far as my unit is concerned and it has not been reconfigured. It has a few other quirks but that is what makes them so cool. Thank you.

Hi, Brad, I thought that I had sent you my number, but here it is M20D5V5426, the chassis date is dec 75 the body may 76 ? getting ready for shows & camping this year. cleaned & serviced waste outlets ( great job ) waiting for new orange strip belt to arrive, this will be the second time replaceing, anyone ideas on how to preserve as the last time it only lasted a few months before it faded & started to crack up ( just glad it is not a 28 footer )

It's all this brilliant sunshine we get in the UK Phil (NOT).

Maybe it wasn't designed for our high moisture environments!

I missed your reply when you posted.

There is an easy way to see if your unit as been reconfigured - what is the rear window?

If it is a single window in the middle, the rig was originally rear-bath, if you have pano windows (3 pieces, with a center, and two side wrap around windows) it would have been center-bath,

Phil, you may have and I just misplaced the email. Regardless I've got you listed now

The original Orange strips seem to last a long time. The repro stuff on the market now is pretty much junk when it comes to UV durability. John Warden gave me a bunch of original trim from an Argosy that he dismantled and from what I remember I think it's enough to finish my 20'.
