I guess you are in the best place having a donor to 'steal' any missing wiring, sensors etc.

I may have missed an opportunity a couple of months back as locally there was a late 80's SOB MH built on a P30 with a good 350TBI/4l80e/4WD, the actual MH was wrecked but as a running chassis/donor it would have been great potential donor, I just think if I was to swap it would be an entire drive train and to go diesel.

A donor vehicle of the right vintage would definitely make things easier. When I picked up my 4L80E (from a friend) I managed to at least get the computer that goes with it so aside from a wiring harness and adding some sensors I should be ok.

If you're going to spend the money to convert, diesel isn't a bad way to go. If I hadn't had the donor 454/4L80E combo I might have considered diesel but that's water under the bridge at this point.

These are also good options for adding a 4l80e. They can be added to just a carved motor also.
