Argosy 20' motorhome 350 MPG and towing?

There is an Argosy 20' motorhome with a Chevy 350 that I am looking at. I have two questions regarding the MPG and towing.

1) What should I expect for MPG?

2) Has anyone towed a small compact car (e.g Ford Focus, Chevy Cruise/Cobalt) with one?

I cannot answer your questions because my project 20' Argosy MH with a Chevy 350 engine is not complete. Here's the thread:

l do plan to tow with it. I'm hoping for 10mpg & may be less when towing. I do not have any facts to base this on, just hoping.

Had a 350 in a 30' rig we got from 10 mpg on up. Not pulling anything . 10 foot longer than what you are looking at and made from steel.Manual transmission and 2 speed rearend.

We have a 24 ft 74 Argosy with a 454 in it and get around 10mpg. The 20 ft are too cute, I'd buy it if the price was right. Where in West Virginia are you? My mom lives in Wetzel county. I love West Virgina and try to spend as much time there as possible

1) I'm not an engine expert but are you replacing it with a newer fuel injected engine?

2) What about the transmission? I hated my 345 geared for 55 mph. I know some folks have added Gear Vendors overdrive units.

I am in Charleston, WV although I grew up in Florida (Miami, Tallahassee).

It is a beautiful place. It would be an AWESOME place to RV with a 20' unit with the small curvy roads! There are lots of great state parks! There is SO much to do within 4-6 hours of our location.

The engine is not fuel injected, it has a carburetor. It's a 350 high performance 330hp, 380 lbs- ft torque. I didn't want to add a computer to the system. This engine uses premium gas, which may improve milage, but not the total fuel cost.

I put the stock 400 transmission, no overdrive. I've read several threads here about Gear Vendors. I did not put one in. Too many people said that, for the cost, it didn't last too long, needed too much maintance, and didn't make much difference in milage. I did any a co-worker tell me that I should use Gear Vendors. I may try one later if the mpg is really bad.
