I also have an Argosy 28 MH (1977)...

I too have wondered about stripping the paint and polishing the aluminum. However the more I hear about airstream leaks, the more I think paint is a better sealed solution. I keep thinking maybe I'll polish just the section just above the storage doors below the belt line of the RV. Just to show a little bit of aluminum. However my (adult) kids keep saying they like it just the way it is. So I'll probably end up carefully foam roller painting the original colors. I've seen pretty good results with this process. I'll be following your progress.

Yea I've heard that the paint helps water seal the rivets and is a good idea to keep on for that reason. I personally think however that the clear coat will serve that function as well if I strip the paint and apply clear coat. Have you experience with clear coat?
