'77 Argosy entry door replacement

I'm a newbie with a nice little basket case. Among a laundry list of issues, my entry door has suffered multiple hi-speed openings. I'll post a pic later today. It may be repairable (I've read some posts), but I thought I would inquire about a replacement. Anyone with links, contacts, ops? What other year(s), model(s) are compatible? This is a suicide door. Thx.

The replacement will have to be used. A new one is worth more than the trailer....$1800. Plus shipping and without a window.

77 Argosy entry door replacement

One possible source of a salvage door is Colaw's RV Salvage in Carthage Missouri. They are a volume dismantler and their inventory does tend to turn over on a regular basis. You can find Colaw's on the web at this link.

Good luck with your investigation!

Since whatever you do you will have to remove the existing door, there's one more thing to consider: repair ir yourself.

This thread gives a brief description of how you do it, and if you can get your current door off, you have won half the battle, I think. I don't know, since the only door I've ever taken off my AS is the screen door.

1953 Flying also lists a bunch of threads about it here.

I dunno what you had in mind, but you won't be alone, lots of folks have had the bad luck with the door. Good luck!

If you want to tackle repairing the door yourself. It may be possible. The door on my Argosy was not setting in the opening correctly. So I decided to see if I could fix it myself. And was successful. I didn't take the hinges off of the trailer, I took the inside panel of the door off, which gave me access to the hinge mounting. Here is a photo of what they look like. You could remove the door and see of you can re arc it to fit the opening.

Some of the salvage yards were probably closed today due to the midwest storm. I didn't get through to colaws. Based on the cost of a new door however, a used one will likely be out of my budget also. I'll read some threads, pull the door skin off and assess the damage. I don't think I can make it any worse. Thx for the info.
