77 24' MH Needs a Door Lock

The MH is a thing of beauty and runs like a top - thanks to the mechanical skills of T.O.M. - The Old Man. We put a new AC on it - old one had over FIFTY screws in the roof, factory screws. We put two Camco vent covers on it - Walmart had them for $20 each. We put a new rear end in it so it would go faster on the modern highways. New air bags and shock absorbers - now it steers nicely. Many more things have been done, but I can't remember now. Oh, a steel storage box over the back hitch for storage helped raise the weight off the front end - easier steering, also.

So, what do we need today - notice I said today...

Where do we find a whole new door lock assembly? This one is not curved enough for this door and is hinky as hell.

One of these days, when the weather gets nice (below 93 or so during the day), I will take photos for all to see. I thank y'all in advance.
Elisa (in still hotter than hell SW Florida)

Elisa,

I'm curious to know what sort of differential swap you did

I hate say it but the Keeler door latch assembly is no longer available. The Keeler latches were first used around 1977 through most if not all of the 80's.

Once in a blue moon one will pop up on ebay, usually broken in some form or fashion but sill a source for parts. Here's a Keeler thread that points to a source for a couple of the more commonly broken items in the Keeler latch.

Good luck!

Brad

The 24' 1977 New MH Rear End, for Brad

Brad,
The new rear end is a 343, I believe. We had a 410 in it previously. The original (before us) was a 456. We don't go over 65, so it works for us.

That's quite a change in gears. How does it do in the mountains?
