How hard can it be to work on those Argosy rigs when they fit into everyones garage and you can work on them year round. I've only got three months, up here in the Great White North and it takes five minutes to skid along the ground until I get to the other end

I guess we were just smart to get diesels; right Mike?

Cheers

Think about it Tony, if you had one of these 20' beauties you too could work year round on keeping it in tip top shape and the bonus is they are so light weight you wouldn't need a diesel....

Just sayin...

Still need the same 10ft wide/12ft high minimum opening, so unless you have a dedicated workshop you are still working on your back in the cold and wet.

Sounds like the solution for everyone is to move to Austin!

I would be in, except I don't like civilians packing heat, so I'm out. Belize is my dream getaway as I know the jungle intimately and they don't allow civvies to conceal and carry.

I still want to paint my Airstream and change the name to Argosy.

Cheers

Tony, I have some spare ARGOSY rivet on logos that I'd be happy to donate to the cause

Over the past few weeks I've been tinkering with odds and ends, nothing major just little road blocks to moving on to the next phase which is installing the radiator.

One thing that was stopping me from installing the radiator was the boot that goes over the brake pedal push rod. In the first two pictures you can see what the condition of the original boot looked like and what I did to fabricate a replacement. Martin came up with the idea of using a motorcycle fork boot and it looks like it's going to work just fine. The only real issue with the fork boot is the smaller hole that is supposed to clamp to the push rod is 1.25" in diameter and the rod is .70" in diameter. I had to make up a rubber spacer to between the rod and the boot. All that's left to finish the boot installation is to install a clamp on the boot to clamp it to the rod. Next...the radiator!

Something else that is now complete is the rework of the dash. It was a real challenge but I'm very happy with how well it turned out. Now if I can get the dash top to look as good I'll be even happier!

On the road in rural Kansas, 800 miles from home, I refuse to say how happy I am and how fortunate to have this Isuzu DIESEL under the hood. So few troubles and with simple love and routine maintenance she just goes and goes and goes. Plenty of power for the most part and dependable as can be. BUT, I refuse to mention these things here because I'm afraid it may jinx me.

Thanks Mike! It was a challenge that I was really really worried about. A crappy looking dash makes everything look chincy

It came out great! Looks like you went with a brushed look in the center only? I like the contrast. That was some good practice before you start on the instrument cluster.

The boot idea was awesome! It looks like it is going to work great. Go Martin!

Dane, you're right I only brushed the center section. I tossed around the idea of doing it all brushed and then decided I liked the contrast.

Martin's idea of using the motorcycle boot worked out very well and hopefully will last longer than the original piece

Not much happening on my Argosy due to trying to get my TR6 chassis assembled into a rolling chassis ready to accept the freshly painted body.

However when Ernie stopped over this morning to start working on Peanut we spent 10 minutes setting the radiator in place

I've owned this Argosy since mid 2007 and this is the first time I've ever seen a radiator installed in the chassis! Little by little it's getting done

Back when you were sorting out the direction problem with your fans I checked mine when the engine was still on the test stand. I had the running the engine for a while and then shut it down and turned the fans on. I could feel warm air being blown through the radiator towards the engine so I'm fairly certain they are blowing the right way!

I've had a few requests for pictures of the TR6 I'm in the process of restoring so here's a few to give you an idea of what stage the project is in.

I don't have an up to date picture of the frame. Currently the front suspension is installed along with the brake lines. I'm working on the rear suspension at the moment.

By the end of this week the body, fenders, doors, boot and bonnet will likely be color coated.

The engine and transmission are being rebuilt and I should have them back sometime in early April.

Mike, that's not my work! I don't do body work so I farmed that out to Ernie and I don't have time to do the engine or transmission so that was farmed out to some friends in Ohio.

I'm just doing the frame and bolting things back together, you know, the easy stuff

Brad
