Spent a little time yesterday and more today working on the rear storage compartments and the steel wheel well and generator covers. The rear compartments are a pain to work on. Lots of cutting and fitting to get everything in place. I've got about 7 hours so far rebuilding the two compartments and I probably have about 7 more to go.

The original generator cover was steel but it was light gauge and the flanges were rusted badly in places. The new generator cover is definitely an upgrade.
The new steel wheel well covers are replacing the cracked ABS original plastic pieces. The new ones are definitely stouter than the originals

Tomorrow I would definitely like to finish up at least one of the storage compartments. We'll see how it goes.....

You are keeping track of your labour hours, right?

I can't wait until you give us your feedback on the use of Coosa board.

Cheers

Martin, the shiny new steel does a good job of hiding the ugly stuff!

Tony, yep I'm keeping track of my hours and the numbers are getting scary

I'd really like to have the Coosa board installed before the end of February but I'm not holding my breath. Unfortunately I've missed way to many target dates as it is.

I've tried to set deadlines for getting the Argosy done because I'd like to have it completed before I die.....

Sometimes deadlines are a part of life for semi-retired folks like me. I just try to avoid having too many of them. Last week had one that fought me tooth and nail getting the stuff done before Friday. Beat it to submission by noon. 2 1/2 day weekend as a reward! I ❤️ my job...

Spent the weekend in the garden. Unusually warm weather in some parts of SoCal...now if we could have fewer airplanes landing on freeways, it would be perfect. Nicely done power-out landing that involved going under an overpass. No damage, no injuries. Great landing...I’m sure a ‘laundry problem’ was involved, however[emoji3]

When I pull the plug on working I don't plan on being semi-retired. Whole hog or nothing for me!

Video of that landing would be something to see that's for sure!

Spent a little bit of time Sunday working on the rear compartments. I'm getting closer to being able to call them complete. I probably need another 6 to 10 hours and they will be done.

I took a short break from working on the compartments and was looking at how to deal with the opening in the wall from the old auxiliary fuel tank filler neck that I scrapped when I when to a larger main tank. The opening is none to pretty to say the least.

Other than just covering the opening with a section of aluminum sheet I been toying with the idea of installing the exterior electrical box that I salvaged from the 345. Unfortunately the opening is oriented vertically instead of horizontally.

The one option that will work is to rotate the electrical box 90 degrees so the lid opens from the side like kitchen cupboards. So, does this look wrong and/or out of place?

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks!

Brad

It looks just fine. With the lid closed it could be a number of things, looks factory installed.

Cool, thanks for the feedback!

Using the outlet box in the vertical orientation definitely saves me a bunch of time and labor.

Thanks again

Looks good and probably much easier to reach the plug than on the flip UP outlets. One little concern would be the rain water flow. Both the lid and the weatherproof outlet lids flip up. But Shepherd57 would say, you worry and think to much, Peter...

Peter,

My assumption is just because a socket lid flips up doesn't mean that water doesn't get inside the outlet. As we've seen on these rigs water seems to find a way into even the smallest of pin holes, gaps, etc. from just about any angle. I guess as often as I plan on using an extension cord I should be ok!

Besides, I'm considering moving to the South West one of these days so rain may not be an issue
