I'd not heard of ceramic tint before. I'll have to look into it. Actually I hadn't considered any tinting on the windshield before but thinking about it it does sound like a decent idea.

Yeah... same principal as the ceramic in the BusKote. It blocks the invisible infrared light that causes so much heat. The other good thing about the ceramic tint is you can get it in completely clear to put on the windshield without breaking any state laws regarding tint. It will help immensely with that fishbowl in the Argosy! You may have trouble finding someone to install it with all those compound curves though, and from what I hear doing it yourself (and getting it to look perfect) is not an easy task. I believe you actually have to heat the tint on the curves to shrink it, etc. I could be wrong about that, but I think with all the curves it's similar to installing vinyl on a car body.

Installed the MaxxAir mounting frame this afternoon. Things go pretty fast when all of the prep work is done ahead of time
The water drops on the blue tape is not rain, it's my sweat! It would just pour off me as I hunched over the top of the opening.
I used a piece of 1/2" thick ABS bar for the leading edge screws to fasten into. It provides a bit of stiffening and also something solid for the screws to bite into.
I plan on smearing Trempro around the screw heads and on the inside where the screws come through the roof top.
I hope to tackle the Jack antenna tomorrow.
Brad

MaxxAir fan is done.
Jack antenna is done. Now I just need to remember to remove that plank before I back the Argosy up so I can set the AC back down where it belongs
Left to do on the roof is the front vent fan, the gray water tank stack opening and the air conditioner.

Thanks Mike
Things aren't progressing as fast as I had been hoping for lately. Various activities like work ot, fence building, tree clearing, etc. have kept me from making much progress on the Argosy. There is still a lot to do before I can try and make the trip to Arkansas. I'm not saying the trip is in jeopardy just yet but it looks like the decision to go is going to come down to the last minute.

Yuki, I'm pretty sure no such vaccine exists for shipwrights disease
The only cure I know of for it is money and time!

Tommy is finally taken care of and has a small fenced in area to wander around in so I should be able to start working on the Argosy again. I think next up will be the tail lights.
I've got a lot of options to look at so in the near future I'll lay things out so all y'all can see what's happening.

Before moving the Argosy out of the shop I have to take care of the following tasks. Finish air conditioner install, install the last 20 or so buck rivets, install 6" front powered roof vent, install vent stack cover and install tail lights.
Yesterday I finished up the air conditioner installation. This particular task took way to much time and energy to finish, all because I just didn't pay attention to what really needed to be done. But it's done and the air conditioner is now mounted on the roof and held in place by the proper bolts.
For the vent stack I just need to make a new gasket and it will be ready to go. I'm waiting on some white Trempro 635 before I install the powered vent. I didn't mind using gray Trempro 635 on the antenna mount and the Maxxair fan because they are on the top of the roof and you can't see them. However the vent fan is more on the towards the side of the roof and is plainly visible from the ground.
The bucket rivets will be done the next time Ernie stops by so the tail lights are now the upcoming focus.
Brad

Just curious, did you install a drain pan?

I don't remember what the torque spec numbers are but from what I remember they weren't enough. I just torque them until the gasket compresses evenly around the opening. That's one of the reasons it took me so long to finish framing the opening. I wanted a strong framework that would allow me to compress the gasket properly without crushing the aluminum shell.

I vaguely remember it being some 55 inch pound, which wasn't enough to compress the gasket properly in my opinion. The 55 foot pound I used first was a tad too tight and I started to deform the metal, which caused me to reread the instructions. ...

Spec is 40 to 50 inch lbs. I'm fairly certain I'm torqued a little more than that

How is the overhead work platform working out for you Brad? I assume you used it when installing the ac unit.

No, same install. The difference is the extra gasket that was required for the drip pan that was used on Peanut.
