24' MH Fuel Filter Replacement - Where to Buy?

Ah, the motorhome is running beautifully after much tweaking, BUT we want to replace the fuel filter. Here are photos of what was there, on the frame. This is a 1977 P30 454 Chevy engine, 24 foot Argosy.

I have searched online at RockAuto, SummitRacing, etc., and I cannot find one for the year, make and model in this same size - 2 1/16" by 3 9/16".

Any numbers on the filter or filter housing/assy?

No, that's why we are going nuckin' futs! Can't find any identifying marks of any kind.

I found this number 1-800-526-4250 for Purolator. Try calling them next week. If that doesn't work consider changing the housing to a commercial external filter of your choice.

Or as a temp, just remove the old housing and install a hose clamp inline style, might have to adapt a fitting or two.

Or even run what you have if its not damaged until you can research this one fully.

you could take the old filter to a NAPA auto parts and they normally can find a replacement, in the picture the color of the filter actually looks pretty good unless it has water in it

Try Diesel filTers on line. I have found they have good prices on OEM filter and service all makes.

Yes, the filter itself looks good, but the rubber is shot. This MH sat in a warehouse for a long time and wasn't ever used much. It had less than 9,000 miles on it. NAPA is open tomorrow, and my mechanical darling will see what they have.

In the meantime, I am finishing my new front curtains today! I do the inside stuff; he does all mechanical. I replaced the wooden venetian blinds with new drapes that are tasteful and simple and easy to slide open and shut. Finally got all the windows to slide by repeated brushing and vacuuming of the trays they slide in, then used Murphy Oil soap as a lubricant. They slide easily!

This is your garden variety General Motors (long) paper fuel filter that fit all Qudra-Jet carbs. They've been around forever. You can get these at any auto parts store or Chevy parts dept. They've even got 'em at Wal Mart.

Tom, I think Elisa mentioned the filter was mounted to the frame rail not in the carburetor. Sounds like its some sort of inline canister filter.

My treasure, T.O.M. (the old man) who is in charge of all things mechanical, found something very similar, although with a perforated metal jacket around it, at NAPA. Now he wants to put on something that keeps the fuel up in the line, as the engine SHOULD start immediately, given the other work he has done on it. But it still starts a little rough, like the fuel is being brought from a far away tank. Once she goes, she purrs like a cream-fed cat, thanks to T.O.M. Whoever had done previous work on this engine should get another hobby.

That filter looks like what ford used in the 60,s thru the 70's mounted either remotely or on the fuel pump, it is a good filter...

That fuel filter in the picture appears to be one out of the filter assembly mounted to the frame in the front passenger wheel well. The filter assembly is an AC Type GF-62-C with a replaceable element AC GF-157.
