The thought is this........buy an Argosy trailer 22', (the Minuet is just a single axle), keep the rear toilet, but extend the shower facilities, keep the front gaucho that can turn into a bed, but get rid of the kitchen and turn the rest into basically a large dressing room.

This would allow us to pack more stuff, but hook up the trailer permenantly on a building site in Belize and take bigger baths or longer showers, leaving the Argosy as more of a weekend special camper that it was meant to be. We want a larger bed in the back and that will end up meaning we possible loose the shower or go to the same wet bathroom you have in your 20'.

All I know, is that I just purchased a 1993 36' Fleetwood Bounder diesel pusher 5.9 Cummins/Allison that the guy wanted $11,500.00, for $1,500.00.

Yes, the wife is looking at me and putting it down to Chemo brain.

I may even buy this beast. It has the same Cummins/Allison, but with only 56,000 miles. That should get me committed.

Not mad at all....well I have to say that because I am considering something similar!

Just keep in mind the Minuet is aluminum floor but did come in 6.3, 6.7 and 7m lengths and I think the longer one is a twin axle. They are also 6" narrower than a standard trailer (the center window is 6" less wide). There are a few single axle 20ft Argosy's around but they are being snapped up by the 'Bambi brigade'.

I was thinking of going slightly further and having one changed into a bike hauler (hatch installed like a Pendelton), but other wise the same....if Peanut's layout changed to this when he arrives back in the UK.

From what I've read, all 6.3" came with aluminum honeycomb flooring, some 6.7's did , but not all, and the twin axle 7M's were all plywood. I have a line on a nice exterior gutted 7M in Deluth Minnesota for $3,500 in the air classifieds right now, but still torn on a double axle and the length; not that my Cummins would even feel it back there, but the hitch may have to be beefed up.

I would just think it'd be a cool rig, both painted the same colours. Sort of like one of the Russian Siberian monster caterpillar machines.

Never seen that set up before, but yeah, something like that. I just like the flexibility it gives us with a home base that provides shower/ bathroom and bed should I take the Argosy somewhere else.

Should look pretty cool. I plan on getting them painted either in Belize or Mexico.

Gab's big on sky blue for some reason.........

Its interesting you say the small Minuet had a honeycomb aluminium floor (I had assumed it was just sheet) as I have friend who works for a company fitting out aircraft interiors and have been told the honeycomb sheet they use is suitable to replace trailer/motorhome floors at a fraction of the weight of timber sheet.

Maybe not Peter, but to explain here is my logic. Tony's engine of choice is the Cummins 6BT. In Europe these are widely used in the DAF 45 trucks and readily available as running units (still in the chassis rails).

However these engines weigh a lot more than 474 so will require the front end to be reworked. If this is the case then maybe a better approach is a body swap. The DAF 45 150 4x2 is very similar in length, wheel base and width. Is a dually chassis like the P30 and already has the suspension/steering/brakes to suit the engine.

But if going that route then the 4x4 version of the chassis has the same wheel base, width, although shorter (at 20ft) but could be lengthen.

Currently on our way back to Ohio from the Redwood National Park. Overnight at the Royal Peacock Opal Mine in Nevada last night. I-80 to KOA Salt Lake City. Cruised about 75 mph in 4th gear @4100 rpm.

And today between Salt Lake City and Cheyenne ran 80 mph in 5th gear at 3100 rpm and got 11 mpg - 1 mpg improvement

But WOW.

I love our 24 Argosy, but not the (our) P30 chassis and 454.
My engine of choice, also, is the Cummins 6BT.
Your post has me excited,I've been searching for an E450 ford chassis with the 7.3 or anything close with a Cummins.
4x4 was a pipe dream.
I'd love to discuss this, get your advice, or start a new thread.

And a manual tranny!

I've been out of work for about a year with an eye injury (I'm functional, just not for my job, for a while).
We've taken this opportunity to do missionary work in the Ukraine and have helped with some vehicles. My mind has been constant on a justification to get get our Argosy to Poland for an affordable rework. This may be it.

Lets start a new thread about possibilities for body swaps....of course any work you had done in Poland (and many car restorations in Europe are now carried out over there because of the local skill sets) would have to include the $3K each way ferry ride.

New axle hopefully arrives today and then I will wait until after Easter to pick her up as South Dakota is still digging out of 10-20" of snow in the past couple of days.

Just to prove I did get a 6.7M Minuet with an 8-track stereo and hammock.....

Welcome back Tony! We were just thinking about you and wondering how you were getting along. What more could a person want if they have an 8 track stereo and a hammock? I still have my Loverboy Get Lucky 8 track tape. I’ll keep it safe for you here in Ohio until you stop by and pick up in the Argosy - Minuet mobile [emoji16]
