My wife and I are the proud owners of a 1970 Overlander. Much as we love Texas, it is just a bit to hot using the original AC Unit. So we decided to get a new 15,000 BTU AC installed. Problem is we are having trouble finding someone to do it for us. We have been to most of the major RV shops in the area and none will touch a 1970 RV. I did find a contractor who initially gave us a reasonable quote, but then never got back to us when we tried to schedule getting the AC unit installed. We are looking forward to getting up to Lake Livingston in the near future and wanted to get this job knocked out. Anyone have a recommendation on a place we can get good service in the Houston area? Thanks in advance...
I used a place called RV Masters on Bingle and Longpoint near I-10 for my rear lights that were corroded. They had a mechanic that did a rig job to just get them working first but when the owner was made aware, I brought it back and they let the guy go and did a FIRST rate job.
I would use them again for sure just be sure and talk to the owners (husband and wife very honest and nice). Just had a bad apple in the bunch.

It would be worth your drive too Weatherford and Roger William's Airstream.
Call David at 800-378-5883 and save money and headaches.

Couldn't agree more. But the job, twins that were born last month (and are going through colic), and the two pups make driving that far like planning a mission to the moon. Some place local will be a better fit for me. Appreciate the tip.
Hi, We are new to this forum, and we know how it can be to have questions regarding older Rv's, we also had rejections from major Rv shop, such as Demontrond. We did find one shop that was very helpful and they were willing to work with us regardless of age on the Airstream. Their name is Bob Jones Rv Repair 713-910-2949 in south Houston. Ask for Carlton, and he will be nice and helpful.
Good Luck, VenPetra
Wow, lots of new Texas members on this thread, welcome to the Forums!
As Flintstones said, replacing the AC on your RV is something you could actully do yourself. I just finished this task a couple of weeks ago on my 1963 Overlander.
But if you do not want to do that, then it looks like you're getting some good suggestions from other Houston folk.
Let me add a third vote for Bob Jones RV. I took my '67 Globetrotter to them recently and could not have been happier with their work and the interest shown in my old Airstream. Among other things, they looked at a range and water heater that I was told had to be replaced. The people at Bob Jones said no to both and showed me precisely how the other shop was wrong and that both items were in good working order with just a bit of work.
