Break away wiring

Hey guys need a little help with a couple of wiring issues.
1 I went to replace trailer break away switch today and noticed wires running up to break away switch were bare and laying in cavity of RH arm of trailer tongue. Looked in service manual and traced them to & pin connector. Pull interior skin off wall with the intention of fishing new wires through with the old ones tied them together and got a little too physical when they did nt want to come thru. White wire broke in midstream after looking a little closer it appers white wire ran thru the floor and ran somewhere to the rear of the trailer before reappearing in the tongue. Question is does that wire tie to anything elese or is it a straight shot up to 7 pin connector. I still have red wire to use as fish tape. Any advice on this guys. One other issue I m having is none of my marker lights are working. Running light burn fine I did nt have trailer on hitch only connected to truck electrically. does the trailer have t0 be attached to truck phsycially to establish ground for marker lights.

There's usually two blue wires to the brake away switch with a red wire tapped into one of the blue wires. The other wire well connect to the blue wire going to the brake magnets. Something sounds amiss there with a red and white wire.

NO only has to be plugged into tv. The white wire is grounding. You can also check markers & running lites by plugging new style blade auto fuze [large one not mini] into umb cord at 11 & 1 oclock position instead of plugging to tv. Bill

The brake away switch is wired one side directly from the trailer batteries and the other side to the trailer brakes. When the pin is pulled the switch will close and feed power to the trailer brake wire and thus would appear to trace tot the 7 pin connection but it not powered from that direction.

When mounting a brake away switch cut the pull wire so the pin will be pulled from the switch before the safety chains are fully extended if the hitch fails. This insures the trailer brakes are applied and will keep the trailer in a trailing relationship to the TV while stopping.
