Full "Gut Job" Reno - Learning As I Go!

Hi All,

I'm newly registered on the forum (though I've been lurking, on and off, for years).

My wife and I purchased a gutted 1965 Sovereign International last year. We couldn't pass up the deal, but weren't ready to work on it yet so it sat in storage on the Marine Corps base here in San Diego for a year.

Now the work starts in earnest!

There's a lot of work to do and it's pretty intimidating, but I know there are a lot of super helpful people here. So when I mess things up it will all be on me!

I'm also filming the entire renovation process, so once I make some progress I'll share!

Will wait for your posts. We are down here in Carson City, not sure if you are in Reno. We've never been gutting, but hubby sure got to do some plumbing from not good winterizing.

Try to repost the images. They didn't come through. Welcome to the world of vintage-adventures.

Dave. I'm starting out a full "gut job" of a 1963 Overlander. Day 7. And I'm a total newbie. Please try to re-post those pictures. My favorite tool so far is the Sawz-all with a metal blade for all the rusty screws!

Just picked up a '65 Sovereign as well. Gonna tear the whole thing apart...we will see how it goes. I'm new to airstream but I'm quite handy so demo begins tomorrow!

Hey there Dave, curious if you have any links to that video you mentioned? Just picked up a 66S rear bath myself, not yet gutted but soon will be as I want to get a look at the trailer frame and insulation before fixing anything else up
Guessing we've got similar projects on our hands but maybe you're a little farther along. Many thanks for any intel you picked up in the process.
