Hello all,
I am new to the RV world and I'm I'm the middle of my search for a Airstream. I've been considering this for about 2 years or more. The right time has come and I'm able to make a purchase.
I really like the idea if owning an older model Airstream. I am very much capable of restoring one & I actually want to go this route. It is difficult, as I'm sure many of you know, to find these beauties. Eventually I'd like to purchase something in the 18- 22 foot range, staying in the vintage realm, 50's model. However, a larger one would work best at this time. This brings me to my find.
I've located a 31'
sovereign land yacht. I'm scheduled to go look at it Saturday morning. The condition I see from the pictures would indicate a complete gut of the interior. I realize the work involved. The exterior is somewhat in decent condition. The owner is using it to stay in while he logs for timber. He has taken out a window and installed a woodstove & the chimney pipe is run through where the window was located. There are also missing access panels.
With this information, I'm trying to figure out if this is a safe purchase.
• is this a desirable AS?
• if I restore it, is it possible to recover the investment for a future purchase?
• If I restore it, should I try to stay as close to original as possible?
• what should I pay for something like this?
Thank you for reading & I hope to own a Airstream soon.
