2005 25 SS 6 slepper

Im looking for some advise. I curently own a 16' 2001 bambi anaversery edition. My wife and I found out over Mothersday weekend that it was a bit small for my two children and us. I am looking to purchase a 25’ 6 slepper from Colonial Airstream in NJ. What is a fair mkt price now days? What have other members paid. Any input is greatly appriciated

Thanks

The 25SS should be good for your situation. Dig through the archives as there have been many discussions about pricing. Generally, if you are willing to drive a bit you can save. Make sure that you local dealer knows that he is in a competitive pricing situation. You may be able to get ~25% off list, although that may be difficult in the spring. List prices are available at the Airstream website. The 25SS base list price is shown at $42,248.

You might also want to consider the 28W: for $6,000 more you get a real bed in the back.

I am soon to purchase a 2006 34' Ltd, (just wating for the house to sell) and was given what I thought was a VERY good price from Colonial Airstream. I would think it would depend on the model and how popular it is. 25% off would be pretty good.

Talk with a few dealers within a 300 miles. Colonial has a great selection and they seem fairly nice. Though they are not without issues from what I've read, that can be expected almost anywhere.

A 2004 base went for 39,100 approx, but the 2005s got a more stout axle putting the GVWR at 7300lbs. In the end the 25' SS is a great unit, with lots of storage and room. I like having a couch and a dinette. The bed can be a bit small, as can the head, but heck, that's why we camp-- to rough it a bit to get out of the urban jungle....now if we were fulltiming.......

17% off list is about average for most units. However, if you trade in the 16", you may or may not get 17% off list. It all depends on how hungry the sales folks are, how much alum they have on the lot and your horse trading skills. Spring is not a great time to horse trade since it's hot season for RVs, but from what I've heard, since gas went up past $2/gallon, RV sales have slowed a fair amount. Not quite stalled, but it has slowed....put it this way, Airstream was filled to capacity when I was there in Dec 2003. April 2005, they were busy and lots of units in production, but not as many as back in Dec. 03, so you may have that as your advantage.
