Forums turned a bit balky in the last few minutes after this afternoon's network move. Do you know that you can't use a 30A-to-15A adapter to run the A/C? If you run the A/C on only 15 amps it strains and damages the compressor sooner rather than later -- expensive repair! The socket receptacle should have the same pattern as the end of the 30A cord. Some owners have had an electrician wire in a 30 amp circuit to run their A/C at home but this is not common. All's fine if you've taken care of that already.

It is okay to plug in your Bambi with a 15 amp adapter -- everything except the air conditioner runs just fine off 15 amps.

Hope this gets through!

I will say that I don't know if it was Casa Brava or the Mc Donalds at 1230AM that gave me mexican heartburn this morning.

Luckily the temps are down right now and it will be cool enough tonight.

Congrats on your new A/S, Steve! Glad you found one to take home with you - was begining to wonder if you were going to be "campin'" in one of the cabins at the rally...!

I know there are many threads out there on this subject, but onto insurance.

USAA is the lein holder on my Airstream. I insured the trailer through them, but required me to insure my tow vehicle with them. They stated that they didn't want to mess with another insurance company for liability processing if there was an accident. I felt that this was rediculous, but had no other option at the time since I needed insurance that day, and my state farm agent was closed for the day.

Who is using who, and for what covereage?

On a sad note, I stood with Amy in our driveway as or 56 Caravanner "The Orient Express" drove off behind the shippers tow vehicle tonight. Amy was pretty upset that we let a beautiful piece of Americana go to the UK. I hope it makes it alright. The shipper just dropped it on the ball, and hooked up chains to it....he didn't even cross the chains under the tongue.

Hope they have insurance on it in the case of a wreck.

Too bad, so sad. The king is dead. Long live the new king!

Many here use USAA for everything (myself included) and are very satisfied. They are so easy to work with on adjusting policy, for claims, and everything. You'll be okay...

Bob,

I called USAA for both of my vehicles and the airstream. I called them 2 days later and they increased the 6 month amount over $100.00. When I asked them to explain why they took 30 minutes to look at the policies side by side...and they could not determine why it changed in the 2 days.

Irritating to say the least, and I will call State Farm tomorrow about coverage for the stream.

Congrats

SoldierMedic,
Congratulations on going with the 19 Foot CCD. It's an iconic American design even if it's not old yet. It will be a sought after vintage trailer someday and in the meantime you can enjoy having everything work. I think you are going to love it. Just the right size for pulling into any spot or driveway. The bed is easier to sleep in for two people than one that goes across the back.

Check out Progressive for insurance. You can get Full Replacement coverage through them. We still have our vehicles with USAA but they don't do replacement. It's a littlle more expensive than regular insurance but not that much more. Gives you peace of mind on a new one or a trailer that has had a lot of upgrades.

We have been with USAA for many, many years and can't say enough good things about them. Don't forget that most years you get a "message from the chairman" in December that is a refund check. They set aside an amount each year to cover the claims and if it isn't used up by the end of the year they give it back to the insureds. Great company, great service. I recently added our trailer and it increased our 6 month premium by about $8. Have not yet received the policy to go through it to see exactly what coverages apply.
